Description
Sleep in your own bed every night. Haul containers around the Lehigh Valley and Berks County. Never touch the freight.
A typical day
- Start: you report to the yard for a day or night shift. Your choice.
- On the road: you pick up containers on a chassis and run them between rail ramps, warehouses and customers around Harrisburg, Allentown, Bethlehem and Reading.
- At the dock: mostly drop and hook. Live loads and unloads happen too, but the crew handles the freight. You don't.
- End: back to the yard, then home.
The week
Five days. You pick one of two blocks: Sunday to Thursday or Tuesday to Saturday. About 1,300 to 1,400 miles a week. No weeks away from home, no sleeper berth.
Pay
- $1,100 to $1,300 a week
- Paid weekly by direct deposit
