Description
Basic Function:
- Under the direction of management, in line with established policies and procedures, this position coordinates and reinforces the efforts of business banking, by managing the due diligence and documentation related to government program lending.
- Focus on government program loans positioned within the Business Banking/middle market channels, and CAM Workout/Special Assets portfolios. Determine required documentation to meet all government program requirements and perfect a loan guaranty on all programs up to $5 million.
- Service loans in accordance with government policies and process and submit purchase claim submissions to the SBA on an as needed basis. Consult with underwriting, sales staff, and CAM Workout/Special Assets to determine required structuring prior to underwriting approval. May conduct training on SBA loan programs when necessary.
- May provide functional training to team members and/or assist with procedure and job aid creation and reviews.
Essential Position Responsibilities:
- Accumulates, prepares, organizes, executes and submits SBA and other government program loan packages for purchase claims, charge-offs, offer in compromises, etc. Functions as the liaison with business partners and the SBA.
- Provide guidance to business partners (sales, underwriting, CAM Workout/Special Assets, centralized departments) on deal structuring and requirements prior to underwriting approval for loan modifications while ensuring compliance with internal and SBA policies.
- Conduct training sessions on SBA program requirements and policy changes.
- Works directly with various business partners and provides excellent customer service by answering questions pertaining to loan servicing and liquidation.
- Functions as liaison with sales teams or service center personnel and centralized departments to ensure that clients receive prompt and accurate service.
- Reviews loan documentation for regulatory and policy compliance, including post-closing reviews for new loans and loan modifications. Identify and resolve documentation deficiencies to ensure complete and compliant loan files.
- Coordinates efforts to process loan modifications in conjunction with government program guidelines.
- Prepares documentation requests and assesses eligibility of program. May issue approval under Banks delegated authority.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting on government program portfolio.
- Review program and closing documentation including insurance, disbursements, and closing documentation.
- Perform accounting functions related to government programs including providing wire instructions, cashier checks, and GL account transactions.
- Processes servicing actions including changes to loans under Banks delegated authority.
- Prepare government guarantee purchase requests.
- Follows the government programs Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) as well as internal procedures.
- May conduct training on SBA loan programs when necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Perform other assignments/projects as requested by management.
- Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.

MANAGERIAL/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
- No supervisory responsibilities. Provides on-the-job training/support to new team members.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 5-year previous SBA loan products and documentation experience required, OR in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 9 years’ higher education and/or work experience.
