Yard and Facilities Coordinator

Job Summary

As a member of the Shop Department, the Yard and Facilities Coordinator is responsible for supporting the maintenance, repair, and replacement of small tools, as well as the upkeep and organization of the construction equipment storage yard and company facilities. This position maintains required company and regulatory records and helps ensure yard and facility areas are clean, organized, and properly maintained. The individual works closely with the Shop Manager, Assistant Shop Manager, Foremen, Mechanics, Project Managers and Superintendents to support efficient day-to-day operations.

Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities

• Maintains and organizes the equipment yard, storage areas and buildings
• Assists with maintenance and improvement projects at the Brooks office and facility locations
• Maintains and coordinates temporary Brooks1st signage on jobsites
• Delivers supplies, small tools, and other materials to field crews as needed
• Picks up parts, supplies, tools, and other materials as needed
• Repairs and maintains small tools, including vibratory compactors, quickie saws, etc.
• Coordinates with shop management to identify and plan for the purchase, disposal, rental, or outside service needs for small tools

Other Duties/Responsibilities

• Assists others in department as needed
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Required Skills and Abilities

• Strong mechanical knowledge of small engines/equipment
• Proficient carpentry skills (must provide tools)
• Basic mathematical skills
• General knowledge of forklift operation and the ability to learn to safely operate a forklift
• Must have excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
• Proven dependability, organizational, problem solving and adaptability skills
• Demonstrated initiative and sense of urgency with the ability to work independently and follow directions as needed
• Strong customer service orientation and ability to work effectively with internal and external customers
• High degree of accuracy, thoroughness and attention to details
• Ability to work for long periods at an energetic pace with frequent interruptions and changing priorities
• Must be a team player

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Minimum of four (4) years of small engine, machine repair, or facilities maintenance
• Experience in construction or manufacturing is a plus
• Maintains a valid driver's license to operate a company vehicle
• Experience working around heavy equipment and machinery preferred
• Experience working in a safety-focused environment preferred

Physical Requirements

• Lifting/Carrying: Up to 75 lbs frequently
• Pushing/Pulling: Up to 75 lbs frequently
• Driving: Regularly operates a company vehicle with automatic transmission and potentially manual transmission vehicles
• Movement Requirements: Frequent standing, walking, and keyboarding; occasional sitting, bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, climbing stairs and ladders, crawling, and reaching above shoulder level
• Use of Hands: Frequent use of hands to operate tools and equipment, handle materials, keyboarding, and performing other job-related duties

Working Environment

• Works regularly in shop, yard, facility, jobsite, and other indoor and outdoor environments
• Works in varying and potentially adverse weather and environmental conditions, including extreme heat and cold, rain, snow, mud, dust, wet surfaces, uneven terrain, and prolonged standing or walking on concrete
• Works in and around operating vehicles, construction equipment, machinery, tools, and other typical shop and yard hazards
• Regularly interacts and coordinates with internal customers, including Foremen, Plant Operators, field personnel, and Department Management
• Travels regularly between company facilities, jobsites, vendors, and other locations as needed
• Adjusts work hours as necessary to accommodate seasonal fluctuations and business needs
