The Role
Business Talent Group (BTG), a Heidrick & Struggles company, connects leading organizations with independent consultants, subject-matter experts, project managers, and interim executives who can solve critical business challenges quickly. As demand for flexible, high-impact talent continues to grow across the U.S., our Client Service team plays a central role in translating client needs into successful project outcomes. This role is ideal for recent graduates and early-career professionals who are excited to work in a fast-paced, client-facing environment, build commercial judgment, develop strong talent assessment skills, and contribute directly to meaningful client work.
Responsibilities
- Partner with Client Service colleagues to understand live client needs, clarify project requirements, and translate those needs into targeted talent search strategies.
- Identify and engage independent consultants, project managers, subject-matter experts, and interim executives through BTG's talent network and external market research, often within compressed timelines.
- Screen talent for relevant experience, availability, communication style, rate expectations, and overall fit with the client's business challenge.
- Develop clear, client-ready talent profiles and presentation materials that synthesize candidate backgrounds, project experience, and fit for the engagement.
- Coordinate project workflow across talent outreach, vetting calls, scheduling, client submissions, interview preparation, contracting support, and project start logistics.
- Maintain accurate project, candidate, and client information in Salesforce and other internal systems to support visibility, follow-through, and team coordination.
- Support rate discussions, contracting steps, and coordination with Sales, Finance, Legal, and Compliance to help move qualified talent onto client engagements efficiently.
- Build increasing ownership over search execution and project delivery, progressing from structured onboarding to more independent management of early-stage project workflow.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required.
- 0-2 years of professional experience, including internship experience; experience in client service, recruiting, consulting, research, sales, or another business-facing environment is helpful.
- Strong verbal communication skills, including the confidence to engage professionals, consultants, and senior executives in a polished, credible manner.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple live priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Curiosity about business, industries, and how companies solve critical operational and strategic challenges.
- Demonstrated judgment, professionalism, and responsiveness when working with internal teams, clients, and external talent.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
- Business-oriented internship or early professional experience in consulting, executive search, staffing, sales, professional services, or client service.
- Experience using Salesforce or another CRM system.
- Interest in the on-demand talent, consulting, executive search, or professional services market.
- Self-starter who takes initiative, anticipates what’s next, and stays one step ahead of client and project needs, including proactively reaching out to candidates and confidently leading conversations by phone, video, or other appropriate channels.
- AI-forward mindset, with a demonstrated drive to experiment with AI tools and proactively identify opportunities to embed them into research, outreach, and day-to-day workflows.
