A Day in the Life

The Integrated Health Solutions (IHS) Supply Chain function enables efficient, data-driven supply chain operations across healthcare environments by providing insights, process optimisation, operational performance management and digital solutions that support business and customer outcomes. The team partners closely with commercial, operational and technology stakeholders to improve decision-making, standardise reporting, and drive continuous improvement through trusted data and analytics.
The Principal Business Intelligence Analyst serves as a senior member of the Business Intelligence Centre of Excellence, partnering with business stakeholders to design, develop and govern enterprise reporting, analytics and automation solutions. The role combines business engagement, technical delivery, data modelling and capability development to enable consistent, trusted and scalable analytics across the organisation while supporting the adoption of self-service business intelligence and emerging analytical technologies. This position is based in Watford, United Kingdom and follows a Flex work model, combining remote and onsite collaboration based on business needs. No travel is required for this role.

Primary Responsibilities

• Partner with business stakeholders to define analytical requirements, key performance indicators and reporting priorities aligned to operational and strategic objectives

• Lead the design, development and enhancement of enterprise reporting solutions, dashboards and data products using Power BI and associated Microsoft technologies

• Develop and maintain shared semantic models, business measures and data definitions that support consistent reporting and decision-making

• Perform data analysis, validation and root-cause investigation using Structured Query Language (SQL), Data Analysis Expressions (DAX), Python and related analytical tools

• Establish and promote business intelligence standards, development practices, templates and governance controls across the organisation

• Identify and implement automation opportunities that reduce manual reporting effort and improve process efficiency, quality and control

• Provide technical guidance, quality assurance and coaching to analysts, superusers and business reporting teams

• Assess and support opportunities to apply advanced analytics, machine learning and artificial intelligence in alignment with business value and governance requirements

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree with experience in business intelligence, analytics, data visualisation or related disciplines
• Advanced experience developing Power BI reports, dashboards, semantic models, DAX measures and Power Query solutions
• Experience using SQL for complex data extraction, transformation, analysis and performance optimisation
• Experience defining business metrics, data definitions and reporting requirements with senior stakeholders
• Experience implementing business intelligence governance, data quality practices and self-service analytics frameworks

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working within a Data, Analytics or Business Intelligence Centre of Excellence

• Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure data services, Databricks, Snowflake or comparable cloud data platforms

• Experience with Python, Power Automate, application programming interfaces (APIs) or analytics automation solutions

• Experience developing enterprise-scale semantic models, deployment pipelines and business intelligence release management processes

• Microsoft certifications in Power BI, Fabric, Azure Data or related analytics technologies

Pay range / Rango salarial / Intervalo salarial /Fascia retributiva / Tranche de salaire / Gehaltsband / Salaribereik:  United Kingdom: 58,320.00 GBP - 87,480.00 GBP | 

 

The final salary within this range will be determined based on objective, job-related criteria, including relevant experience, skills and qualifications, in accordance with our compensation framework.

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
