Lead Platform Architect 

About the Role 

McKesson Technology is seeking a Lead Platform Architect to drive architecture strategy and technical leadership across cloud-native, customer-facing, and enterprise platforms. This role partners with business, product, engineering, security, and operations teams to deliver scalable, secure, and resilient solutions that accelerate digital transformation and business growth. 

The ideal candidate combines deep architecture expertise with hands-on experience in cloud platforms, API ecosystems, digital commerce, contact center technologies, event-driven systems, and AI-enabled solutions. You will define enterprise standards, influence technology roadmaps, and guide strategic initiatives across a complex technology landscape. 

What You'll Do 

• Define enterprise architecture strategy, target-state roadmaps, and modernization plans across cloud and digital platforms. 

• Lead architecture design for Azure-based cloud solutions, APIs, microservices, event-driven systems, and enterprise applications. 

• Partner with engineering teams to establish cloud-native architecture patterns, platform engineering standards, and Kubernetes adoption strategies. 

• Drive API-first and composable architecture approaches that improve scalability, flexibility, and business agility.
• Architect customer experience solutions leveraging Salesforce, commerce platforms, contact center technologies, and digital experience ecosystems. 

• Guide integration of AI/ML and Generative AI capabilities into enterprise products, workflows, and customer experiences. 

• Establish security-by-design practices including identity management, Zero Trust principles, governance, and compliance controls. 

• Mentor architects and engineering leaders while influencing technical decisions across multiple initiatives and business domains. 

Basic Requirements 

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering, solution architecture, enterprise architecture, or cloud architecture roles. 

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field; equivalent experience considered. 

• Experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale cloud solutions on Microsoft Azure. 

• Experience building API-driven, microservices-based, and event-driven architectures in large-scale environments. 

• Experience leading architecture for customer-facing digital platforms, enterprise applications, and integration ecosystems. 

• Proven experience establishing architecture standards, governance processes, and technology roadmaps. 

• Strong understanding of security architecture, identity and access management, resiliency, and compliance requirements. 

• Demonstrated ability to communicate architecture strategy and technical decisions to both technical and executive audiences.

 Preferred Skills/Experience 

• Azure Solutions Architect Expert or comparable cloud certification. 

• Experience with Kubernetes, container platforms, platform engineering, Infrastructure as Code, and cloud automation. 

• Expertise in DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines, observability, reliability engineering, and operational excellence. 

• Experience with Salesforce, digital experience platforms, commerce solutions, and contact center technologies. 

• Knowledge of data architecture, analytics engineering, search platforms, and data-driven decision frameworks. 

• Experience designing AI/ML, Generative AI, intelligent automation, and agentic architecture solutions. 

• Knowledge of TOGAF, C4 modeling, enterprise architecture frameworks, and architectural governance. 

• Experience leading large transformation programs across multiple business domains and technology portfolios.

This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations.  In addition to base pay, other compensation, such as an annual bonus or long-term incentive opportunities may be offered.

€82,500 - €137,500
