Summary
The Banquet Bartender is responsible for providing professional, efficient, and courteous beverage service during banquets, weddings, meetings, conferences, special events, and other functions. This position prepares and serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages while maintaining a clean, organized, and properly stocked bar area.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Set up, stock, and prepare the bar area before scheduled events.
- Review event details, beverage menus, guest counts, and special instructions prior to service.
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to established standards and guest preferences.
- Provide courteous, professional, and efficient service to guests throughout the event.
- Verify identification and follow all applicable laws and company policies regarding the service of alcoholic beverages.
- Monitor guests for signs of intoxication and follow responsible alcohol-service procedures.
- Politely refuse alcohol service when appropriate and immediately notify a supervisor or manager when assistance is needed.
- Maintain appropriate levels of liquor, beer, wine, mixers, garnishes, glassware, ice, and other bar supplies throughout the event.
- Prepare garnishes and other beverage components as needed.
- Maintain an accurate awareness of beverage inventory and notify management when additional supplies are needed.
- Keep the bar, workstations, equipment, glassware, and surrounding areas clean and organized throughout the event.
- Follow proper procedures for handling, storing, and disposing of alcohol and beverage products.
- Break down and clean the bar area at the conclusion of each event.
- Return unused products, equipment, and supplies to their designated locations.
- Wash, polish, and properly store glassware and bar equipment.
- Assist with banquet setup, service, and breakdown duties as assigned.
- Work cooperatively with servers, banquet captains, culinary staff, managers, and other team members.
- Maintain a professional appearance and comply with uniform and grooming standards.
- Follow all health, sanitation, safety, and security procedures.
- Perform other reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
Requirements
- A High School diploma or equivalent.
- Previous bartending, beverage service, restaurant, banquet, or hospitality experience preferred.
- Ability to provide excellent guest service.
- Ability to communicate effectively with guests and team members.
- Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic knowledge of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
- Must meet all applicable legal requirements for serving alcoholic beverages.
- Courteous and attentive to guests.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to lift: Up to approximately [50] pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
