For more than 55 years, Family Health Centers of San Diego’s (FHCSD) mission has been to provide caring, affordable, high-quality health care and supportive services to everyone, with a special commitment to uninsured, low-income and medically underserved persons.
FHCSD is one of the top 10 largest federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) in the country. We operate more than 90 sites across San Diego County, including 29 primary care clinics, 23 behavioral health facilities, 10 physical rehabilitation clinics, nine dental clinics, five vision clinics, four outpatient substance use treatment programs, three mobile medical units, two mobile counseling centers, two urgent care centers, and a pharmacy.
Our staff provides care to over 227,000 patients each year, of whom 91% are low-income and 29% are uninsured. FHCSD provides care to all. Services include, but are not limited to adult care, chronic disease management, pediatrics, comprehensive women’s care including obstetrics, dental, vision, case management, physical rehabilitation, speech therapy for children, vaccinations, infectious diseases, behavioral health, substance use counseling and a host of specialty services including cardiology, podiatry, endocrinology, dermatology, among others. FHCSD also offers supportive services to those who are unsheltered and in need of intensive case management.

Family Health Centers of San Diego is looking for a Building Information Modeling Specialist (BIM). Under the direction of the Manager of Architecture & Design, the BIM Specialist develops and maintains Building Information Modeling (BIM) standards, digital design documentation, and facility planning resources. This role provides technical expertise in Revit, AutoCAD, and BIM processes to support construction, design and space planning projects across the organization. The BIM Specialist develops and uses the department’s standard drawing format, creates renderings in Revit, develops and generates drawing schedules, and supports virtual reality walkthroughs with stakeholders, supported by Enscape plug-in. This position promotes consistency, accuracy, and efficiency in project documentation, model development, and digital workflow management.

BIM Modeling and Documentation
- Develop, maintain, and update building information models utilizing Autodesk Revit and related BIM technologies.
- Create and modify plans, elevations, sections, schedules, details, and project documentation in Revit, for both new projects and transitioning of legacy files from CAD to Revit.
- Support facility planning, renovation, and construction projects through development of accurate digital models and drawings.
- Maintain model accuracy and document quality throughout all phases of project development.
BIM Standards and Content Management
- Spearhead the development, implementation, and ongoing refinement of departmental Revit standards.
- Establish modeling protocols, naming conventions, family standards, view templates, and annotation standards.
- Create and maintain BIM execution procedures and best-practice guidelines.
- Promote consistency in project setup, model structure, and documentation across all projects and design team members.
- Monitor compliance with set Revit standards and identify opportunities for process improvement.
CAD and Data Migration
- Leads a departmental transition of legacy AutoCAD files, standards, details, and libraries to a BIM-centric environment.
- Organize and maintain digital facility records and BIM resources.
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of facility data during migration and model updates.
Coordination and Quality Assurance
- Perform quality control reviews of BIM models.
- Coordinate models with consultants, contractors, and project stakeholders as required.
- Identify and resolve design, documentation, and modeling discrepancies.
- Support project teams in maintaining established quality and documentation standards.
Technical Support and Training
- Serve as a departmental resource for REVIT Modeling, Revit workflows, and digital design best practices.
- Provide training and technical support for staff utilizing BIM tools and processes.
- Mentor team members on BIM standards, modeling techniques, and documentation workflows.
- Research emerging technologies and recommend solutions that improve project efficiency and user experience.
- Assist with implementation and optimization of BIM-related software and workflows.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture.
- 5+ years of architectural BIM/Revit experience.
- Experience converting AutoCAD standards, details, and legacy documentation into Revit environments
- Experience within architecture or engineering required.
- Experience supporting BIM implementation, standards development, and digital documentation processes required.
Specialized Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
- Proficiency with current versions of Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD.
- Working knowledge of Building Information Modeling (BIM) technologies and best practices.
- Experience with Navisworks, Newforma, and related BIM coordination software preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to create Revit content, establish project templates, and optimize BIM workflows.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organization and time management skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and meet project deadlines.
- Demonstrated technical aptitude and ability to quickly learn new software applications.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
