Tuesdays: 1:30-5:30
Wednesdays: 7:30-12:30
Thursdays: 1:30-4:30
Fridays: 7:30-4:00

Pay Range:

$19.80 - $29.70

Major Responsibilities

Rehabilitation Department Support & Maintenance

  • Perform daily sanitation of PT/OT gym areas, including mat tables, treatment tables, parallel bars, and therapeutic equipment.
  • Notify appropriate personnel of equipment malfunctions, including hydrotherapy equipment.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of clinic and therapy areas.
  • Maintain splinting areas, ensuring supplies are properly stored, countertops remain clear, and water levels are replenished.
  • Disinfect therapy equipment according to established guidelines.
  • Load and unload dishwashers used for therapy supplies.
  • Store, maintain, and refill disinfectant supplies according to hospital specifications.
  • Set up and clean therapy rooms for specific procedures.
  • Deliver and retrieve equipment for specialized disinfecting procedures.
  • Close the site according to established procedures.
  • Maintain department supplies and materials, including inventory management, ordering, and restocking.

Clerical & Administrative Support

  • Assist with the preparation and maintenance of patient files.
  • Copy forms, reports, and records.
  • Address and prepare envelopes and packages for mailing.
  • Submit copy requests to the Copy Center.
  • Fax documents according to hospital policy.
  • Sort and distribute mail, reports, office supplies, and therapy materials.
  • Receive, verify, and store delivered supplies.
  • Order food for therapy services as needed.
  • Provide clerical support and perform other administrative duties as assigned.

Patient Care & Treatment Assistance

  • Deliver basic modality treatments after receiving appropriate instruction and competency validation under the direct supervision of a therapist, including hot/cold packs and hydrotherapy (excluding electrical stimulation and advanced therapeutic techniques).
  • Prepare patients for treatment after receiving instruction and competency validation in safety techniques.
  • Remove and reapply bandages or dressings as indicated.
  • Assist patients with dressing and undressing.

Patient Transportation & Support Services

  • Transport patients using wheelchairs, carts, and life support equipment according to assigned schedules.
  • Deliver supplies and equipment to patient rooms and rehabilitation satellite units.
  • Complete errands throughout the hospital as assigned.

Therapeutic Exercise & Mobility Assistance

  • Perform basic gait training after instruction by a therapist regarding proper techniques and precautions.
  • Assist patients with basic therapeutic exercises under the direction of a therapist.
  • Perform basic patient transfer techniques after receiving instruction and competency validation in safety procedures.
  • Assist with transfers, including stand-pivot, slide board, sit-to-stand, and cart transfers under the direct supervision of a therapist.
  • Communicate patient concerns, changes in condition, or abnormal behaviors to the supervising therapist.

Communication & Patient Safety

  • Observe and communicate patient needs, concerns, and potential problems to appropriate clinical staff.
  • Maintain knowledge of isolation procedures and apply proper infection prevention techniques, especially in hydrotherapy areas.

Professional Development

  • Participate in hospital and departmental educational programs, in-services, and training activities.
  • Work toward individual and departmental goals.
  • Attend scheduled staff meetings and interdisciplinary team meetings.
  • Perform additional clerical and patient care responsibilities as assigned.

Education & Experience Required

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of experience as a Rehabilitation Aide or Rehabilitation Technician preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated competency in all Rehabilitation Aide I responsibilities.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

  • Work ranges from occasional sedentary activity to regular physically demanding work involving patient handling and transfers.
  • Ability to assist, escort, transfer, and respond to patient needs for extended periods.
  • May be exposed to hazardous materials, bloodborne pathogens, and infectious diseases.
  • Ability to adapt to varying and unpredictable situations.

Lifting Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance.
  • For patient lifts exceeding 35 pounds, or when a patient cannot assist, approved patient-handling equipment and assistance from at least one additional team member should be used when available.
  • Unique patient lifting and movement situations will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
  • This requirement supersedes all previous lifting requirements effective August 1, 2014.
