IFRS 9 Adoption Specialist

Our client is seeking an IFRS 9 Adoption Specialist to lead the implementation and deployment of IFRS 9 accounting standards for a growing financial services organization.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

• Lead IFRS 9 adoption strategy, implementation planning, and execution across the organization
• Design and implement IFRS 9 compliant processes for loan loss provisioning, impairment modeling, and financial reporting
• Assess current accounting infrastructure, systems, and controls; identify gaps and recommend solutions
• Develop training materials and provide guidance to accounting and finance teams on IFRS 9 requirements and application
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders, external auditors, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance and alignment
• Document IFRS 9 policies, procedures, and accounting treatments; ensure consistency with public company reporting standards
• Validate model outputs, test calculations, and prepare supporting documentation for financial statement disclosures

Requirements

• 10–15 years of accounting experience, with 5+ years specifically in IFRS 9 adoption or implementation
• Proven expertise in IFRS accounting standards and commercial bank accounting practices
• Direct experience in public company financial reporting and regulatory compliance
• Advanced knowledge of loan loss provisioning methodologies, impairment modeling, and expected credit loss (ECL) calculations
• Strong understanding of accounting systems, data architecture, and financial reporting controls
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to translate complex accounting concepts for diverse audiences
