Assistant General Counsel, Latin America

You will report to: GENERAL COUNSEL, LAR AND SECURITIES DISCLOSURE

Work Model: Hybrid

Location: Mexico City

Role Purpose:

The Assistant General Counsel provides legal support to the Rockwell Automation Latin America Region. You will call for a licensed attorney with at least ten years of experience. This experience is in-house, but law firm experience is also acceptable. The attorney must be a partner and trusted advisor, understanding our business. They develop strategies using legal skills that yield profitable growth. At the same time, they assure compliance and mitigate risk. You will be a generalist to work in multiple fields of laws across multiple countries. Additionally, it will have the ability to work with the departments and tasks as our needs arise or to enhance development opportunities.

Main Responsibilities:

• Provide proactive counsel and advice to all levels of the business. This includes the Latin America Regional Vice President, the Regional Sales Directors, the Regional Market Access Director, and other departments. The counsel and advice cover one or more areas. These areas include distribution and market access strategies. They also include complex commercial agreements, such as those with government-owned entities. Additionally, they cover employment law, litigation management, competition law, data privacy, corporate governance, real estate, and risk management.
• Train internal clients on relevant legal issues; communicate business/region/function activities with legal implications to peers within Office of General Counsel.
• Work with or lead interdisciplinary project and transaction teams, including other peers and responsibilities within the Office of General Counsel.
• Manage the delivery of services by outside counsel including aligning budgets with organizational goals and financial goals.
• Manage litigation and disputes.
• Establish budgets and manage costs and staffing within budgets.
• Improve activities improving the efficiency of the Office of General Counsel.
• Be an trusted advisor and partner to leadership to achieve priorities.

Skills, Experience and Education

• Law bachelor's degree and a license / admission to practice law in Mexico (Mandatory)
• Advanced English proficiency
• Must have a valid passport and U.S. visa.(Mandatory)
• 10+ years' experience of law firm or in-house experience; corporate in-house experience a plus.
• Orientation toward our results, not just providing legal advice; maturity, experience, and business acumen to become a trusted advisor to the business segment/region/functional management team.
• Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communications skills (effective, persuasive, responsive, accessible).
• Experience managing and improving processes and driving continuous improvement.
• Demonstrates strong leadership skills.
• Quantitative skills necessary to manage outside counsel services and track metrics on matters and costs.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

• Strong experience in Labor Law, Commercial Law.
• Experience advising on distribution and market access strategies.
• Knowledge of employment and advising HR with union relations.
• Ability to provide legal guidance to business leaders on labor, commercial, operational, and corporate matters across multiple jurisdictions.
• Experience managing legal matters involving commercial transactions, real estate leases, tax-related issues, employment matters, and corporate risk management.

Industry Experience Preferred

Experience within one or more of the following industries is highly desirable:

• Industrial Manufacturing
• Automation and Industrial Technology
• Software
• Location & Travel Requirements
• Preferred location: Mexico City, Mexico.
• Hybrid work arrangement with regular on-site presence on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.
• Valid passport and U.S. visa required.
• Availability for occasional travel throughout Latin America, including South America, and to the United States.
• Approximately 10-15% travel required.
• Willingness to collaborate with global teams and occasionally work outside normal business hours.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned corporate attorney who combines strong legal expertise with business acumen and strategic thinking. This individual will have experience supporting multinational organizations, preferably in the industrial, manufacturing, or technology sectors, and will act as a trusted advisor to executive leadership across Latin America.
