Job Description

Essential Job Functions:

  • Promote and lead a culture of safety across all operations.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Address safety risks and ensure timely resolution of safety concerns or incidents.
  • Oversee daily operations within the assigned area to ensure safe and efficient production.
  • Ensure operations are carried out in a safe, appropriate, and cost-effective manner.
  • Maintain accountability for adherence to operational procedures and standardized work practices.
  • Observe work activities to ensure compliance with company standards.
  • Monitor operational performance through key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Identify operational challenges and implement solutions to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Perform quality control oversight to ensure products meet customer and company specifications.
  • Support and drive initiatives that improve operational processes and performance.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization and operational improvements.
  • Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, quality, and materials teams to resolve operational issues.
  • Lead, coach, and develop paint supervisors and team members.
  • Support employee training and development initiatives.
  • Drive the performance management process for supervisor-level personnel.
  • Coordinate activities across shifts to promote collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Support plant leadership initiatives and operational objectives.
  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment.
  • Develop, implement, and optimize paint processes to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and efficiency.
  • Monitor material consumption and process compliance.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for paint process issues and develop corrective and preventative actions.
  • Work with Engineering to identify, procure and implement new equipment and processing equipment.
  • Provide technical assistance to reduce and sustain paint defect rate.
  • Report on current KPI results, as well as developing additional or improved KPIs to ensure continual improvement of product and processes.
  • Develop and initiate a Corrective Action plant to correct and/or prevent future occurrence of noncompliant processes or product. 
  • Report daily on schedule compliance, quality and through put in the prep and paint department.
  • Safety, EPA, OSHA, IATF 16949 and ISO14001 compliance.
  • Coordinates the training of Paint Engineers and Paint Techs, including providing mentoring on paint process techniques and best practices.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for paint processes.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using 5S and Kaizen methodologies.
  • Lead and participate in process audits to ensure adherence to standards and identify opportunities for improvement.

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum ten (10) years of experience in process engineering, preferably paint processes.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience managing paint engineers and/or paint techs in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with robotics and automation systems.
  • Experience in automotive or Tier 1 supplier manufacturing.
  • Experience supervising production supervisors or frontline leaders.
  • Experience working in high-volume manufacturing environments.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing operations and operational management principles.
  • Understanding of organizational effectiveness and operations management.
  • Familiarity with business and financial principles impacting manufacturing performance.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to analyze operational data and production metrics to drive improvements.

Education:   

  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field or equivalent experience.
