Our client is a well-established convenience retail and franchise group with a strong presence across South Africa. They are seeking an experienced and energetic Business Consultant to support franchisees across the Eastern Cape and ensure consistent application of business principles, brand standards and operational requirements.

The successful candidate will work closely with franchisees and store teams, providing practical guidance, training and support across key areas such as merchandising, promotions, product ranges, ordering, pricing, reporting, financial management and overall store performance.

Responsibilities: Franchisee Support & Development • Visit franchise outlets across the Eastern Cape to assess performance and provide ongoing business support. • Ensure franchisees apply group business principles, brand standards, products and corporate requirements. • Provide guidance and training to franchisees and staff on convenience retail operations. • Identify areas for improvement and assist franchisees in implementing practical solutions.

Retail Operations • Support stores with merchandising, promotions, product ranges, ordering and pricing. • Monitor store standards, operational procedures and customer service. • Assist with new store setups and ensure operational readiness. • Provide guidance on category management and product performance.

Business & Financial Support • Assist franchisees with basic financial and business management principles. • Review store performance, reports and key business indicators. • Support franchisees in improving profitability, operational efficiency and overall performance. • Apply sound numerical and analytical skills when assessing business information.

Performance & Relationship Management • Build strong, professional relationships with franchisees and store teams. • Monitor performance against agreed standards and targets. • Provide constructive feedback and coaching where required. • Work independently while keeping management informed of key issues and opportunities. Requirements: • Grade 12. • Minimum 5 years experience in franchised FMCG retail, wholesale and/or the fuel industry. • Experience in convenience or supermarket retail will be advantageous. • Strong PC literacy and proficiency in MS Office. • Sound understanding of finance and business management. • Strong numerical and analytical ability. • Knowledge of category management and performance management. • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Strong planning and organisational abilities. • High attention to detail. • Experience in new store setup will be advantageous. • Food safety experience/background will be advantageous. • Valid driver’s licence and own reliable vehicle.

Travel requirements: • Travel & Working Requirements • Extensive travel between stores across the Eastern Cape is required. • The role will involve visiting both urban and remote outlets, with occasional overnight stays. • Willingness to work retail hours, including Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, when required.
