Job Scope

The Cadaver Lab Manager manages the day-to-day operations, scheduling, inventory, and safe use of the Acumed Learning Center (ALC) cadaveric training facility. This role ensures compliance with established procedures, specimen-provider requirements, OSHA standards, bloodborne pathogen (BBP) protocols, and other applicable safety requirements. The CLM also ensures the lab, surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies are properly maintained, cleaned, sterilized, inventoried, and ready for training activities.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Hire, train, coach, and manage Bioskills Lab employees, including performance feedback and development.
  • Manage cadaveric lab scheduling, staffing, setup, breakdown, cleaning, and course readiness.
  • Order, prepare, inventory, manage, and coordinate timely return of cadaveric specimens in accordance with supplier, OSHA, and Acumed requirements.
  • Maintain inventory of surgical instruments, hardware, PPE, lab supplies, and other materials; order and restock as needed.
  • Manage lab vendors, equipment repairs, preventative maintenance, quality, delivery, and payments.
  • Develop and facilitate staff training related to BBP, lab safety, specimen management, and radiation safety.
  • Ensure required waivers are completed and participants follow appropriate safety and PPE protocols.
  • Participate in cadaveric lab simulations and courses for internal staff, Sales Consultants, and Health Care Professionals.
  • Clean and sterilize the lab, instruments, and equipment in accordance with applicable standards.
  • Coordinate course logistics including materials, catering, hotels, transportation, POs, and registration support.
  • Develop and monitor lab processes to improve compliance, quality, cost, and service.
  • Monitor lab expenses against the Medical Education budget and support off-site Medical Education and Product Training events as needed.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or equivalent education/experience; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of cadaveric lab experience preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience with high-level customer interactions.
  • Strong organizational, communication, time-management, and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to manage vendor/supplier relationships and coordinate laboratory resources.
  • Ability to consistently follow health and safety procedures and regulations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Credentialing Required:

Regular cadaver lab work requires completion of OR Protocol, Bloodborne Pathogens, Product/Service, and Radiation Safety training, as well as Hepatitis B vaccinations.
