SEMCO - Senior Advisor, Incident & Emergency Management
At SEMCO Energy Gas Company, safety, reliability, and preparedness are foundational to how we serve our customers and communities. We are seeking an experienced Sr. Advisor, Incident & Emergency Management to lead and continuously strengthen our emergency management program across our natural gas utility operations. In this highly visible role, you will serve as the organization's subject matter expert for emergency preparedness, incident management, crisis response, and operational resilience. You will partner closely with leaders across operations, engineering, safety, security, environmental, public affairs, and regulatory functions to ensure SEMCO is prepared to effectively respond to and recover from emergencies, operational disruptions, severe weather events, and other critical incidents. What You'll Do
Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of SEMCO's Incident & Emergency Management Program
Develop and maintain emergency response plans, procedures, playbooks, and readiness tools that align with regulatory requirements and industry best practices
Support emergency response activities, including Emergency Operations Center (EOC) activations, Incident Command System (ICS) operations, severe weather events, infrastructure disruptions, and crisis situations
Coordinate emergency preparedness initiatives, risk assessments, resilience planning, and operational readiness activities across the utility
Design and facilitate emergency exercises, training programs, tabletop simulations, and drills to strengthen organizational preparedness
Lead after-action reviews and corrective action processes to capture lessons learned and drive continuous improvement
Build and maintain strong relationships with emergency management agencies, regulators, public safety organizations, industry partners, and community stakeholders
Provide leadership briefings, preparedness reporting, and strategic recommendations to support operational and executive decision-making
What You'll Bring
8+ years of progressive experience in emergency management, utility operations, public safety, crisis management, business continuity, security, or a related discipline
Experience supporting emergency response operations, preparedness programs, incident investigations, exercises, and operational resilience initiatives
Strong knowledge of Incident Command System (ICS), Emergency Operations Centers (EOCs), emergency response principles, and crisis management practices
Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders during complex or high-pressure situations
Excellent communication, facilitation, relationship-building, and project management skills
Utility, energy, critical infrastructure, or industrial operations experience is strongly preferred
Professional certifications such as CEM, FEMA Professional Development Series, Business Continuity certifications, or advanced ICS training are considered assets
Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management, Public Safety, Homeland Security, Engineering, Environmental Science, Business Continuity, or a related field

We offer a competitive salary range of $99,500 to $144,425 per year, commensurate with experience, education, and skills.
