Finance Sr. Manager
What you will do

In this vital role, Amgen is seeking a highly motivated and experienced finance professional to join the North Carolina Drug Substance Operations Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team. In this role, you will partner closely with site and finance leadership to deliver high-quality financial planning, reporting, and analytics for ANC site operations.
This role is designed for a finance member with deep manufacturing experience, strong understanding of Cost of Goods Manufactured (COGM) planning, and the ability to connect operational performance to business strategy. The ideal candidate brings a balanced combination of technical financial expertise, strategic thinking, process improvement orientation, and comfort leveraging technology to improve insight, efficiency, and decision-making.
- Develop the Cost of Goods Manufactured (COGM) budget, forecasts, and long-range plans for ANC site operations by applying a deep understanding of the operational and financial drivers that shape manufacturing performance. Translate key assumptions—including COGM cost elements, Net vs. Inventory determination, operating expenses, production plans, capacity assumptions, and drug substance manufacturing parameters—into accurate and robust financial plans.
- Partner closely with Site & Global teams such as Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Accounting, Procurement, to identify, validate, challenge, and align the underlying planning assumptions. Ensure financial plans accurately reflect operational realities while providing meaningful insights to support business decisions and long-term strategic planning.
- Implement and maintain a model for multi-plant site allocation methodology.
- Use technology, advanced analytics, and automation tools to deliver timely, accurate, and actionable insights for senior leadership.
- Understand and apply standard costing structure and methodology to provide meaningful insights during manufacturing variance reviews and annual standard costing execution.
- Support financial analysis and scenario modeling for new product introductions, technology transfer programs, production plan options and other strategic site initiatives.
- Oversee monthly and quarterly actual results versus forecast and plan for assigned functions; including variance analysis and senior leadership level commentary and business performance insights.
- Partner with site key stakeholders on capital investment business cases, cost optimization initiatives, and productivity program implementation.
- Develop a strong understanding of Amgen financial policies, internal controls, financial discipline and compliance requirements; educate and support site stakeholders in applying them effectively.
- Support process improvement efforts to simplify planning, improve accuracy, and increase efficiency across finance and site operations.

Basic Qualifications
Doctorate degree and 2 years of experience in Finance, Accounting or Related Field.
OR
Master’s degree and 4 years of experience in Finance, Accounting or Related Field.
OR
Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of experience in Finance, Accounting or Related Field.OR
Associate’s degree and 10 years of experience in Finance, Accounting or Related Field.
OR
High school diploma / GED and 12 years of experience in Finance, Accounting or Related Field.
Preferred Qualifications:
- MBA or CPA preferred.
- Strong experience managing financial planning and analysis, accounting and compliance for pharmaceutical manufacturing operations, including knowledge in site COGM planning.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze data and present results to senior management in a clear and concise manner.
- Standard costing and capital planning knowledge.
- Experience with SAP or other large ERP and consolidation tools.
- Understanding of SAP month end closing process for operational expense and production related activity (process orders, absorption, settlements).
- Hyperion planning system experience
- Proficient with Technology, especially with advanced Excel skills or tools to analyze large data sets.
- Strong communication and business partnership skills.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and influence stakeholders at multiple levels.
- Highly motivated, detail-oriented, work in teams and solution-driven with a strong “can-do” mindset.
- Data analytics or data visualization and dashboard experience (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Smartsheet, Alteryx, etc.)
- Understand Continuous improvement concepts and experience driving or collaborating with process improvement initiatives

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
