Position Summary

The Aerial Lineman installs, maintains, and repairs overhead telecommunications infrastructure, including fiber optic, copper, and coaxial cable. This position works as part of a field crew to safely complete aerial construction assignments in varying terrain and weather conditions. The role requires comfort working at heights, sound judgment, dependable attendance, and consistent compliance with TD&I safety requirements and project specifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Install, lash, repair, maintain, and remove aerial telecommunications lines and cables, including fiber optic, copper, and coaxial systems.

· Safely climb utility poles and work from bucket trucks or aerial lifts to access infrastructure and complete assigned work. 

· Set poles, install anchors and guys, place strand, and assist with cable placement as assigned. 

· Operate bucket trucks, aerial lifts, hand tools, and other specialized equipment in accordance with training and company policy.

· Review work orders, utility prints, job specifications, and daily assignments; coordinate work with the Foreman and crew

· Perform required pre-trip, post-trip, and equipment inspections and promptly report defects or unsafe conditions.

· Identify job-site hazards, use required personal protective equipment, and follow TD&I, OSHA, DOT, customer, and industry safety requirements.

· Troubleshoot field issues, communicate obstacles, and support timely completion of quality work.

· Document completed work accurately and maintain required production, safety, and equipment records.

· Maintain a professional attitude and work cooperatively with foremen, technicians, customers, and other crew members.

Requirements

· Working knowledge of aerial telecommunications construction and fiber optic, copper, or coaxial systems is preferred.

· Ability to safely work at heights and in and around energized or active utility environments as permitted by training and assignment.

· Ability to lift, carry, and position ladders, tools, materials, and equipment associated with aerial construction; a 70 lb. ladder may be required.

· Full-body mobility, including climbing, bending, twisting, reaching, kneeling, and standing or walking for extended periods.

· Ability to use basic hand tools and safely operate assigned vehicles and equipment.

· Valid driver’s license and driving record acceptable for the position; a Class A CDL is preferred and may be required for certain assignments.

· Ability to read and understand work orders, utility prints, safety instructions, and job specifications.

· Ability to pass applicable pre-employment screening and meet ongoing company and customer requirements.

· Strong work ethic, dependable attendance, clear communication, teamwork, adaptability, and commitment to quality workmanship.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

· Regularly performs physically demanding work, including climbing, lifting, carrying, reaching, pulling, and working at heights.

· Works outdoors in changing weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, snow, wind, and uneven or difficult terrain.

· May work near moving vehicles, construction equipment, traffic, and active utility facilities.

· Must be able to travel to job sites and work extended hours, overtime, weekends, or out-of-town assignments when required by project needs.
