Data Center Standards Engineer - Junior

Responsibilities

Our team runs enterprise and regional data centers, telecommunications spaces, and secure network connections that host the systems Veterans depend on — from claims processing and pharmacy fulfillment to appointment scheduling and benefits delivery. We provide full-lifecycle data center and cloud engineering, 24×7×365 operations and monitoring, DCIM platform administration, analytics, and facility infrastructure reporting. Position Duties & Responsibilities 

• Develop and maintain data center engineering standards, specifications, procedures, and technical requirements that drive consistent portfolio-wide practices. 
• Coordinate standards inputs from electrical, mechanical, telecom, and IT SMEs; publish standards releases on cadence. 
• Author reference designs, technical briefs, and illustrated newsletters supporting engineering knowledge transfer. 
• Ensure all published materials meet WCAG 2.0 / PDF/UA-1 accessibility requirements.

Qualifications

Requirements 

• Currently possess or be able to obtain VA Public Trust — High Risk (BI High) / Tier 4 background investigation. 
• Bachelor's degree, preferably in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; 2+ years of standards development or technical documentation experience in an infrastructure context. 
• Education substitutions (per Peraton Career & Compensation Framework): Master's degree substitutes ~2 years of required experience. In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, 4 additional years of relevant experience is acceptable (Associate's degree + 2 additional years also accepted for equivalent professional levels). 

Desired Skills, Tools & Certifications 

• Tools: Adobe FrameMaker / Acrobat, MS Visio, AutoCAD, SharePoint, MadCap Flare. 
• Processes: ITIL v4 service management, SAFe Agile / Scrum for iterative delivery, NIST 800-53 / RMF, ISO 27001, TIA-942, ASHRAE TC 9.9, VA CRISP alignment, NFPA 70/70E, and OSHA safety practices.; WCAG 2.0 / PDF/UA-1 accessibility; TIA-942. 
• Certifications (desirable): BICSI RCDD (required for telecommunications design authorship), STC Certified Professional Technical Communicator (CPTC), Adobe Certified Professional., ITIL v4 Foundation (Practitioner/Managing Professional a plus), SAFe Practitioner or SAFe DevOps.

Target Salary Range

$80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
