Senior Oracle Database Administrator / SQL SME

Description CORE-CSI is a small business headquartered in Sterling, VA. We provide trusted and results-oriented expertise to the Intelligence Community, the Department of Defense, and other Federal and Commercial customers across the US. Core-CSI is seeking a talented Senior SQL Database Administrator / SQL SME to support a federal government customer. The Senior SQL DBA will provide technical leadership and hands-on administration, development, maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting of enterprise SQL database environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot SQL Server and SQL Cluster environments.
• Create and manage standalone SQL databases and clustered database environments.
• Perform SQL scripting, database administration, performance tuning, monitoring, and capacity planning.
• Support High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) environments.
• Perform database/server installations, upgrades, patching, backup, restore, and recovery.
• Conduct daily troubleshooting, system setup, error triage, and configuration activities.
• Monitor database and server health using tools such as Idera and SolarWinds.
• Manage incidents, service requests, and Requests for Change (RFCs) through ServiceNow.
• Troubleshoot database integrations with enterprise applications, including SharePoint.
• Develop scripts and automation for database operations and administration.
• Perform root-cause analysis and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
• Collaborate with application teams, infrastructure teams, management, and government stakeholders.
• Document technical activities and contribute to weekly support reporting.

 

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years of relevant SQL/database experience.
• U.S. citizenship is required for this position.
• Advanced SQL Server and SQL Cluster administration experience.
• Strong SQL scripting, performance tuning, backup/recovery, HA/DR, patching, and troubleshooting experience.
• Experience supporting enterprise production database environments.
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, Oracle, and MS Access is highly desirable.
• Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
• Microsoft SQL/database professional certification is strongly preferred.
