We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Somerset to assist with the appointment of an Active Travel Project Manager, on a 12-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £20.65 - £28.50 per hour

Hours per Week: 22

Summary:

The Active Travel Project Manager will support the Council's dedicated Active Travel capital programme of over £9 million, overseeing the development and delivery of active travel and transport infrastructure schemes. The role will involve working closely with Active Travel England, local stakeholders, Council colleagues and multidisciplinary project teams to ensure schemes meet funding, design, planning and delivery requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Service Manager and Principal Transport Planner in overseeing the development and preparation of new active travel and transport schemes.
  • Manage projects through the development and preparation stages and into construction and operational handover.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams, including development, design, construction, commercial, planning, testing and commissioning resources.
  • Establish appropriate project governance, roles, responsibilities and deliverables.
  • Initiate project inception and associated project management processes.
  • Support the development of business cases from Strategic Outline Business Case through to Full Business Case.

Qualification:

  • Relevant professional qualification or equivalent experience in project management, transport planning, highways, engineering or a related discipline.

Essentials:

  • Proven experience managing or coordinating transport infrastructure, active travel or similar capital projects.
  • Experience taking projects from development and design stages through to construction and handover.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary project teams and external stakeholders.
  • Experience commissioning and managing technical consultants and specialist services.
  • Strong understanding of project governance, programme management, budgets, risks and project controls.
