Main Purpose:
The Electrician installs, troubleshoots, maintains and repairs electrical systems within an industrial environment. This is a contract/temporary position, and the estimated workload is 2-7 weeks.
Essential Functions:
- Assemble, install, repair and maintain electrical systems, equipment and fixtures including conduit, wire duct and cable tray systems
- Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical issues in a timely manner
- Read and interpret technical drawings and wiring diagrams
- Ensure compliance with national, state and local electrical codes
- Mentor helpers and provide guidance as needed
- Maintain tools, vehicles and equipment in good working order
- Work collaboratively with team members, contractors and clients
- Perform other duties assigned by supervisor
Requirements
Job Requirements:
- 3+ years as an industrial electrician
- Previous experience with industrial electrical systems
- Must be able to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams and blueprints
- Strong knowledge of NEC and state / local codes
- Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen
- Must be able to pass a background check
Desirable Experience, Education and Training:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Familiar with Gas Chromatographs (GCs)
- OSHA certification or other safety trainings
- NCCER certification
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Physical Requirements:
- Standing, sitting, walking, stooping, kneeling, climbing, feeling, talking, hearing and seeing
- Turning, twisting, bending and balancing
- Pushing, pulling and reaching
- Must be able to lift and / or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally 50-75 pounds
Tools, Equipment and Technology:
- Screwdrivers & nut drivers (insulated, Phillips, flathead, square tip and multi-bit)
- Pliers (lineman's, needle-nose, channel locks and diagonal cutters)
- Wire strippers (various gauge sizes)
- Fish tape or rods (pulling wire through conduit / walls)
- Measuring tools (tape measure, level and laser level)
- Utility knife (wire sheathing and trimming)
- Hacksaw or PVC cutter (for conduit)
- Hammer (standard claw and / or heavy duty for framing work)
- Conduit reamer & bender hand tools
Environmental Conditions:
Work activities are performed in a manufacturing and fabrication shop environment with a mix of shop floor and office / documentation work. Individuals will be required to work in changes of temperature, hot, cold, humid, wet, and dry conditions, dust, etc. They may also be exposed to fumes (Paint, paint thinners, diesel, /or gas etc.). Individuals may also have to walk the yard, climb stairs and inspect large assemblies.
