What you'll do...
Role summary:The (USA) Technician, Facility Services, HVAC-Refrigeration, is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC and refrigeration systems in commercial and industrial settings. This role involves diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant issues, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations, and performing preventive maintenance to optimize system performance. The Technician collaborates with management and team members to support operational goals, leads and mentors less-experienced staff, and manages service calls efficiently. Adherence to company policies and standards is essential to deliver reliable, high-quality facility services.

The General Facilities Maintenance team ensures Walmart locations operate efficiently and safely through preventive maintenance and timely repairs. Specializing in HVAC and refrigeration systems, the team manages work orders and collaborates with contractors while adhering to safety protocols. Members share expertise and apply best practices to support continuous improvement aligned with business objectives. Committed to high standards and integrity, the team plays a crucial role in maintaining reliable facility operations that support the well-being of associates and customers, while preserving the functionality and appearance of Walmart locations.
What you'll do:
- Install, configure, and calibrate HVAC and refrigeration systems, including ductwork and control panels, ensuring compliance with building codes and operational standards.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related issues across commercial and industrial equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on refrigeration units, walk-ins, and HVAC systems to optimize performance and minimize downtime.
- Conduct inspections and maintain compliance with federal, state, and local HVAC/R regulations, including refrigerant handling and documentation.
- Lead and mentor field teams, communicate technical information to customers, and coordinate service calls using digital tools.
- Operate company vehicles safely to complete service assignments within assigned regions and participate in on-call rotations.
What you'll bring:
- Proven experience installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC and refrigeration systems in commercial or industrial settings.
- Ability to interpret layout plans, schematics, and technical documentation to ensure compliance with building codes and operational standards.
- Proficiency in diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related issues and implementing effective solutions.
- Knowledge of OSHA standards and EPA 608 refrigerant handling protocols.
- Strong skills in preventive maintenance and equipment lifecycle management.
- Capability to lead and mentor team members on technical and safety practices.
- Effective communication skills for customer interaction and team collaboration.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate company vehicles safely.

The hourly wage range for this position is $29.00 - $58.00* *The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location. Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from $0.35 per hour to $3.00 per hour in specific circumstances. Premiums may be based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.

Minimum Qualifications...
Outlined below are the required minimum qualifications for this position. If none are listed, there are no minimum qualifications.
Option 1: Vocational or technical HVAC/R certification and 2 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related field for commercial HVAC/R and building controls.Option 2: 4 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related field for commercial HVAC/R and building controls or related field.
Hold and maintains Type I and Type II or Universal Environmental Protection Agency certification for refrigerant handling.
Where required, HVAC-R/ Mechanical Journeyman.
Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass motor vehicle report.• Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI within the last five (5) years.
Commercial driving record with no more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years.
No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
No serious traffic violations, as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
