Job Overview
Material Handler II handles aluminum extrusions and other inventory used in commercial buildings. Individuals in this material handling position work as part of a team to ensure material is received, stored, picked, packed and shipped to clients accurately per schedule. Receive and distribute material throughout the facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensures that all material is handled, stored, and distributed properly per the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
- Reads and verifies paperwork, work orders, or work instructions for distribution, and storage accuracy.
- Verifies quality of material and checks cradles to ensure accuracy of material.
- Ensure quantity and On-time and Complete (OTC) requirements are met.
- Ability to read and interpret work instructions.
- Perform basic computer functions related to data entry.
- Maintain inventory control and inventory accuracy for all parts in assigned areas.
- Communicate discrepancies between ordered and received material.
- Must be cross-trained and able to support all Material Handler I & II roles.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Essential Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1-2 years of experience in material handling or a related field.
- Proficiency in operating a wider range of material handling equipment, including forklifts.
- Ability to use and accurately read measuring devices (tape measures).
- Ability to use hand tools (hammer, wrench, level, etc.).
- Ability to follow blueprints.
- Ability to read and interpret Work Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Ability to use a computer with basic proficiency (data entry).
