Job Description:

The Technical Specialist –GEDSI, will ensure adherence to overall technical and programmatic quality in implementing the project. S/he will ensure compliance with the donor and WV rules and regulations and ensure the timely submission of overall deliverables, including work plan, performance monitoring plan and other reports as required. Further, the Technical Specialist – GEDSI, is responsible for providing technical advice to the project team also supporting the implementation of the project interventions for improving the quality of climate change adaptation actions and livelihood related project interventions to demonstrate the impact, while ensuring greater accountability.

Major Responsibilities

  • Provide support to the project implementation while Ensuring GEDSI Integration in Overall Project Implementation. 
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to the project team to ensure that the overall project takes a GEDSI transformative approach.
  • Lead GEDSI-targeted interventions and capacity-building initiatives by ensuring the timely completion of GEDSI-related research and assessments, applying findings to strengthen project approaches, and facilitating high-quality training and skills development programs for project teams, community facilitators, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong networking and collaboration with relevant Government Departments/ Institutions/ I/NGOs, and other local stakeholders such as CBOs including women led organization, Farmer groups Producer groups etc. for successful implementation of project interventions and advocacy.
  • Comply with all GEDSI related donor/organizational reporting requirements.
  • Documentation and dissemination of best practices and lessons learnt through the project to produce and share a rich knowledge base on GEDSI
  • with donors and stakeholders.
  • Timely submission of monthly/quarterly progress reports including facilitating the project coordinators to provide necessary evidence-based information for mid– year and Annual reports.

Required qualifications, experience & competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in Gender Studies/ Human Rights/Development Studies
  • At least 4 years of experience in the development sector with sound subject knowledge, programmatic and field experiences in Gender Equality Disability  and Social Inclusion
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge on gender equality and social inclusion and ground level experience in implementing GEDSI related project activities/trainings
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Tamil, with moderate knowledge of Sinhala considered an added advantage.
  • Strong report writing and content writing skills with proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Previous experience with EU-funded projects will be an added advantage.
  • Ability  to travel to the National Office and other Area Development Program (ADP) offices within the project area.
