Position Description
The Day Leadership Academy (DLA) within the School of Hospitality at Metropolitan State University of Denver is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated, and highly organized Administrative Assistant. This part-time role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the creation and delivery of hospitality-focused programming, collaborate on new and creative ideas, and engage directly with the Denver and Colorado hospitality community.
The Administrative Assistant will work closely with DLA leadership and other School of Hospitality faculty to support initiatives that connect working professionals with industry leaders, events, and learning experiences. This role entails a combination of administrative tasks, with external facing projects that involve meaningful engagement with hospitality professionals across multiple sectors.
Responsibilities
The DLA Administrative Assistant is responsible for helping with various projects undertaken by the DLA and providing the DLA faculty coordinator with secondary work-related assistance as needed. The DLA Administrative Assistant provides administrative, program, and project support to the DLA Faculty Coordinator and other DLA project leaders:
- Support the ongoing coordination and evaluation of DLA programs and services, such as the Restaurant Resilience Five Points Initiative and Restaurant Summit
- Assist with the creation, coordination, and dissemination of office outreach and communication efforts
- Collect, organize, enter, and maintain program data and assist with program evaluation and reporting
- Coordinate event logistics for executive seminars, speaker series, conferences, and other DLA programs.
- Track course/program timelines and ensure deadlines are met
- Support marketing, outreach, recruitment, and enrollment efforts.
- Manage invitations/newsletters and manage RSVP/registration list
- Assist with event logistics, including registration and attendee tracking, presentation and materials support, and pre- and post-course/program evaluations
In addition, the DLA Assistant is expected to assist with office duties, such as monitoring the DLA phone, managing the DLA calendar, and assisting the DLA faculty coordinator and DLA project leaders as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or current enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program in hospitality, marketing, communication, or a related field
- Demonstrated organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
- Reliable transportation throughout the Denver Metro area, including locations with limited transit service.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service and engage effectively with diverse stakeholders
- Good understanding of basic software platforms such as Microsoft tools (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Calendars), and other tools to create and send newsletters
Schedule Information
Full-time; up to 30 hours/week
Days of Week: Monday – Friday
Evenings and Weekend Work: As needed for events, etc.
Schedule: Hybrid schedule flexibility with in person work as well as some remote opportunities subject to supervisor approval and program needs.
Travel: Occasional local travel within the Denver metro area
Salary for Announcement
The hourly rate that the University reasonably expects to pay for this full-time Temp Hourly position is established at $27 / hour.
