Construction Manager I

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) is looking for someone to join as a vital member of SEL General Construction team. We design, build, operate, and maintain 2.7m sq. ft in over 20 countries around the world. As a Construction Manager, you will work shoulder to shoulder with our construction, design and maintenance teams to coordinate and meet project objectives in buildings that support over 8,000 employee owners achieve our mission of making electric power safer, more reliable and more economical.

A typical day as a Construction Manager I might include:  

• Work under general supervision to coordinate small construction projects and assist with medium- to large-scale projects. 
• Create, maintain, and monitor accurate project files such as budgets, schedules, bids, contracts, submittals, RFIs, ASIs, and change orders.
• Manage contractor relationships by facilitating effective communication, coordinating issue resolution, and supporting alignment with project objectives.

This job might be for you if: 

• Associate’s degree or equivalent experience
• Typically 2 years of related experience in a professional setting
• Excellent coordination, organization, and prioritizing skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Project
• Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills
• Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
• Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment

It is a plus if you have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, related field or equivalent experience
• Demonstrated competent level knowledge of project management skills, techniques, and terminology
• Basic level of business acumen related to budgets, expense planning, and resource allocation
• Knowledge of construction operations, risk management, safety standards, and compliance requirements

Pay Range Data - $31.00 - $46.00 per hour

We set starting pay based on job-related factors such as your experience, training, knowledge, and skills. We are looking to fill this position at the Construction Manager I level, and we welcome applicants with a range of experience. Depending on your background, we may consider you for a different level, with compensation aligned accordingly.
