Job's mission
At ASM, our Software Engineering teams work on delivering software that has immediate, tangible results visible in the operation of semiconductor processing equipment hardware. The hardware includes robotics,
gas valves, temperature controllers and other hardware. Based in Singapore, the Senior Software Support Engineer will make an impact by investigating, recreating, and troubleshooting software issues to resolution as reported by our customers. Be part of ASM's investment in expanding software engineering capabilities in Singapore and help establish the Singapore Hub for semiconductor software development
What you will be working on
- Gather information to investigate the issue, reproduce it, determine the root cause, and recommend corrective actions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve software issues, including embedded software for control systems. Able to triage mechanical, electrical, and software bugs.
- Responsible for managing escalation calls with field support engineers
- Create bug reports for the developer to use when fixing the bug.
- Work with QA to add replicated bugs to the regression.
- Travel to customer sites to support installations, training, and troubleshooting of ASM products.
- Talking to the account team and GPS group (not directly with the customer) when investigating reported issues.
- The team will handle all issues until they are ready to send them to the developer.
What we are looking for
- Minimum Bachelor's with 8 years of relevant software support experience or Master's degree with 4 years of relevant software support; majoring in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Ability to read code and diagnose issues.
- Software development or test (QA) experience.
- Ability to travel 10-25% domestically and internationally.
- Expertise in C/C++, C#, Python, Gitlab/Github.
- Experience with semiconductor equipment
- Experience working with two or more of the following is preferred: software for machine control, Semiconductor, Factory Automation, Multi-threaded applications, real-time software, device drivers, or other interrupt-driven software

- Experience with ASM platforms
- Ability to handle customer situations, develop action plans, and drive resolution with ASM and customers
- Strong team collaboration skills with the ability to work independently and lead meetings
- Hands-on experience with debugging tools, diagnostics, log analysis, performance profiling, and production support methodologies.
- Structured, logic-based troubleshooting skills with the ability to coach others
- Experience collaborating with Product Development, Systems Engineering, Applications, Field Service, and Customer Support teams to address complex customer escalations.
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, multifunctional environment independently
- Strong multitasking and organizational capabilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, SharePoint, and familiarity with SAP
- Excellent communication skills—clear, concise, and effective with peers, management, and customers
- Strong leadership qualities with the ability to mentor and develop others
- Acts as a role model while fostering strong internal and customer relationships
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools, large language models (LLMs), and modern software engineering practices leveraging generative AI.
