Job Posting Title:
Sr Data AnalystReq ID:
10157869Job Description:
The Product & Tech Analytics team is seeking a Sr. Data Analyst who will be a key player in driving personalization strategy on Disney+ and Hulu. We partner across the business to turn raw data into meaningful insights, and then turn those insights into strategic recommendations that steer key decisions in the product. Our ideal candidate is an excellent coder and communicator who crafts high-impact, data-informed stories to decode challenging and unstructured problems, and can responsibly manage complex projects that cross several silos. If you go beyond gathering data and you consistently transform it into knowledge and meaningful business action, this is a great role for you.
You’ll work with personalization product teams, business leadership, and industry-leading machine learning experts to understand recommendation system performance and identify areas for strategic investment. Through this collaboration, you’ll design innovative approaches to measure success, test hypotheses, extract actionable insights, and develop recommendations that drive key decisions behind our algorithms. You’ll be a critical voice informing and shaping the future of personalization for Disney Streaming.
Core Responsibilities
A/B Testing & Experimentation: Lead the design, analysis, and interpretation of experiments across personalization. Partner with stakeholders to ensure experiments are designed and interpreted correctly. Conduct power analysis, contribute strong code to our advanced experimentation libraries, perform post-analysis on complex questions in SQL and Python, and provide expert clarity on results.
Analytics Engineering & Reporting Foundations: Collaborate closely with data engineers and product management to tackle data consistency challenges, ensure the accuracy and quality of data required for analysis, and improve foundational datasets. Instrument new product features from the ground up - managing the project end-to-end - and ensure we have the right data built the right way, leading a group of partners from data product and data engineering.
Deep-Dive Analysis: Help cross-functional stakeholders understand platform performance. Dig into metrics that are ahead or behind expectations, surface actionable insights, and present them effectively through data visualization tools and live presentations. Apply advanced techniques (statistical modeling, experimentation, causal inference) to user behavioral data to identify patterns and uncover opportunities. Don’t just describe what happened with data - help people see what it means and what they can do about it. Become a key voice for setting our strategy.
AI Enablement: This is an AI-first analytics team that has a robust assortment of tools (Claude, Cursor, Snowflake Cortex, Gemini, and more) available to accelerate analytics engineering and answer stakeholder questions. We are constantly sandboxing and inventing, so we’re looking for somebody excited and curious to take advantage of our tools and be a cutting-edge innovator in AI for analytics.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related field
5+ years of experience in data analytics, including 2+ years at a senior level
Proficiency and 3+ years of applied experience creating complex queries and analysis on very large datasets in SQL and Python, leveraging Snowflake, Databricks, or a similar data warehouse
3+ years of applied experience with data exploration, visualization, and instrumentation in Looker (or an equivalent tool like Tableau)
3+ years experience with A/B testing - including power analysis, use of experimentation code libraries, metric selection, test design, and interpreting complex results
Familiarity with notebooking and scheduled job instrumentation in Python
Strong understanding of statistics concepts (e.g. hypothesis testing, statistical power, confidence intervals, regression analysis, Type I/II error, etc.)
Ability to think strategically and interpret market and consumer information contextually
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including written and verbal presentation skills, with experience presenting to diverse audiences and managing strong personalities
Experience managing end-to-end analytical projects, including documenting requirements up front, setting deadlines, and delivering strategic meaningful impact
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related field
Experience with product analytics, especially user funnels and user behaviors
Hands-on experience with advanced statistical methods such as causal inference
Background in streaming media or subscription-based products
Experience building agentic analytics tools
Advanced knowledge of Looker
Proven ability to manage projects that require new datasets, collaborating with data engineering teams to improve data quality and build foundational datasets for scalable analysis
