HR Generalist – Central Texas
The HR Generalist provides hands-on HR support across the Central Texas area, partnering with employees and operational leaders in a fast-paced, field-based environment. This position has a strong focus on employee relations and requires an HR professional who can independently manage workplace issues, conduct investigations, advise leaders, and support employees across multiple locations and job sites.
The ideal candidate is bilingual in English and Spanish, highly organized, comfortable working independently, and experienced supporting a large hourly or craft-based workforce.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a primary HR resource for employees, supervisors, and managers across assigned locations and job sites.
- Manage a high volume of employee relations matters, including workplace concerns, employee conflicts, investigations, performance issues, and corrective action.
- Advise supervisors and managers on appropriate next steps related to employee relations, performance management, company policies, and workplace concerns.
- Conduct thorough and objective workplace investigations and provide recommendations based on findings.
- Build strong relationships with operational leaders and employees through regular visits to branch locations and job sites.
- Conduct onsite employee and management training, including workplace culture, workplace violence prevention, and other HR-related topics.
- Support performance management and performance review processes, partnering with managers to promote consistency and identify potential bias or other concerns.
- Monitor workforce trends, including turnover and employee relations activity, and partner with operational leaders to identify potential solutions.
- Apply company policies, HR practices, and employment laws consistently while using sound judgment to address individual situations.
- Utilize HR systems and technology effectively to manage employee information, documentation, reporting, and other HR processes.
- Manage schedules and priorities independently across a geographically dispersed employee population.
- Partner with the broader HR team on HR initiatives, compliance requirements, and other business needs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Fluency in English and Spanish required.
- Strong employee relations experience, including workplace investigations, conflict resolution, performance management, and corrective action.
- Working knowledge of HR practices, employment laws, and compliance requirements.
- Experience supporting hourly, craft, industrial, construction, manufacturing, field services, or another operational workforce strongly preferred.
- Ability to independently manage a large employee population across multiple locations.
- Strong judgment and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate employee situations and recommend appropriate action.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels of the organization.
- High level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential employee matters.
- Self-motivated and highly organized with the ability to establish priorities and manage responsibilities with limited supervision.
- Strong technology skills, including proficiency with HR systems and Microsoft Office.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities and business needs may change quickly.
Position Requirements
- Primary location: Schertz, Texas preferred.
- Supports the Central Texas area, including multiple branch locations and job sites.
- Approximately 30% travel, including travel to branch locations and job sites.
- Position is primarily onsite and field-based, with limited work-from-home flexibility based on business needs.
- Must be comfortable regularly interacting with employees and operational leaders in field and job-site environments.
