We are currently seeking a Lead Medical Assistant - Psychiatry to assist the psychiatric and primary care providers with ensuring patients are met with quality care, well-documented treatment, and welcoming spaces. Maintains clinical areas based on infection control standards and patient flow expectations. They will sustain a line of communication with the psychiatric provider, primary care providers, and patients. During patient care, they will implement any and all quality care, infection control, and patient flow initiatives, policies, and procedures to enhance the patient experience. With this, the Lead Medical Assistant - Psychiatry will lead an assigned team of Medical Assistants in their onboarding, training, support, and coverage.

UCFS Hours of Operation: Open 8:00am - 7:00pm; Hours Vary By Day & Location

(We are also open on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month)

Expected Schedule: Full-Time 40 hours/week

Norwich: 80%; Griswold: 20% 

Outline of Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the onboarding, training, support, and coverage for all Medical Assistants under their Supervisory Responsibilities.
• Establishes the Medical Assistant schedules.
• Completes all performance evaluations, performance improvement plans, and additional items associated with the fulfillment of their direct reports’ job duties. 
• Prepares the patients for examination by escorting patients to rooms, obtaining and recording assessment information, performing screening tests and procedures, and preparing specimens for transportation. 
• Monitors patient medication intake.
• Completed medication referrals as ordered by the provider. 
• Coordinate outside referrals to radiology as ordered by the provider.
• Demonstrates flexibility in the work schedule to provide the most efficient and effective support for patients and providers.

Requirements

 Minimum Education and Experience

• High school diploma 
• Certified Medical Assistant
• 2 years’ experience of medical assisting - Ambulatory Care experience preferred
• 1 year of experience completing prior authorizations 
• 1 year of experience in clinical psychiatric services highly preferred

Minimum Certificates, Licenses, Registration

• Current CPR certification
• Current MA or CNA certificate

• Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
• Proficient in electronic health record (EHR) systems (EPIC preferred) with working knowledge of MS Office.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Exceptional interpersonal, customer service, and bedside manner.
• Ability to travel to other UCFS locations as needed for coverage.
