Position Summary

The Marketing Specialist - Events is primarily responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing Marken's customer events, industry conferences, trade shows, executive meetings, and internal events. This role serves as the central point of coordination for all event logistics, ensuring each event is delivered seamlessly, on time, and within budget while creating an exceptional experience for customers and internal stakeholders.

Working closely with Executive Leadership, Business Development, external vendors, and the Global Marketing team, this position will oversee all aspects of event planning—from venue selection and logistics to attendee communications, budgeting, and on-site execution. In addition to event responsibilities, the role will provide limited support for marketing communications, content development, and Requests for Information (RFIs) as business needs arise.

Key Responsibilities

Event Planning & Execution (Approximately 90%)

  • Lead the planning and execution of customer events, conferences, trade shows, executive meetings, webinars, and internal events.
  • Develop and manage comprehensive event project plans and timelines.
  • Coordinate all event logistics, including venues, catering, travel, registration, audiovisual requirements, signage, promotional materials, and shipping.
  • Manage attendee invitations, registrations, RSVP tracking, and event communications.
  • Coordinate Executive Leadership participation and support on-site event logistics.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors, venues, and event partners.
  • Manage event budgets, process invoices, reconcile expenses, and ensure events remain within budget.
  • Identify risks and develop contingency plans to ensure successful event execution.
  • Coordinate production and inventory of event collateral and promotional merchandise.
  • Support on-site event setup, execution, and post-event wrap-up activities.
  • Track event metrics and provide post-event reporting and recommendations.

Marketing Support (Approximately 10%)

  • Assist with the development of marketing presentations and customer-facing collateral.
  • Provide support for Requests for Information (RFIs) and sales enablement materials.
  • Assist with internal and external marketing communications as needed.
  • Support content updates and other marketing initiatives during non-event periods.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Hospitality Management, Event Management, Business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience coordinating corporate events, conferences, or marketing events.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Experience working with event registration platforms and project management tools is preferred.

Location & Travel

  • Based in the Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina area.
  • Up to 20% travel within North America to support customer events and conferences.
