We provide person-centred support tailored to each participant's individual needs, preferences and goals. Our Disability Support Workers work closely with participants, families, Registered Nurses and other health professionals to provide safe, consistent and meaningful support within the participant's home and community.

Current Opportunity – Coogee, NSW 2034
We are currently seeking experienced, reliable and compassionate Disability Support Workers to provide 1:1 support to a participant located in Coogee, NSW 2034.

For this role, we are particularly interested in workers who have experience supporting people with mental health conditions and psychosocial disability.

The successful worker will need to be patient, emotionally aware and able to build rapport while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries. The ability to remain calm, communicate effectively and provide consistent support is particularly important.

The position is offered on a contractual (sole trader/ABN) basis, providing flexibility while being supported by an established, professional and nurse-led organisation.

The Role
Depending on the participant's individual needs, preferences and goals, responsibilities may include:
  • Providing 1:1 psychosocial and mental health support
  • Building a consistent and trusting support relationship
  • Supporting emotional wellbeing and daily routines
  • Providing encouragement, reassurance and practical assistance
  • Supporting medication routines within the worker's authorised scope
  • Assistance with shopping and everyday errands
  • Supporting attendance at medical and other appointments
  • Community access and social participation
  • Encouraging engagement in meaningful activities
  • Supporting the participant to maintain independence and choice
  • Meal preparation and assistance with daily living activities
  • Supporting organisation, planning and completion of everyday tasks
  • Recognising changes in the participant's presentation or wellbeing
  • Following individual support, mental health and risk management plans
  • Escalating concerns appropriately to the clinical or support team
  • Maintaining clear and accurate progress notes and support documentation

Mental Health & Psychosocial Experience
Previous experience supporting people with mental health conditions or psychosocial disability is highly regarded for this position.

  • Remaining calm during periods of distress or heightened emotions.
  • Communicating without judgement.
  • Recognising changes in mood, behaviour or presentation.
  • Supporting rather than taking over.
  • Encouraging independence and participant choice.
  • Following established escalation and risk management procedures.

About You
The right person will be:
  • Experienced in mental health or psychosocial disability support.
  • Calm, patient and emotionally aware.
  • Friendly and able to build genuine rapport.
  • Reliable and punctual.
  • Respectful and non-judgemental.
  • Confident supporting community access.
  • Able to maintain appropriate professional boundaries.
  • Comfortable providing 1:1 support.
  • Able to follow individual support and risk management plans.
  • Observant and able to recognise changes in presentation.
  • Able to work independently and use appropriate initiative.
  • Committed to consistency and participant choice.
  • Experience in mental health, psychosocial disability, community services or similar support environments will be highly regarded.

What You'll Need:
Applicants must have, or be willing to obtain where applicable:
  • Certificate III in Individual Support or an equivalent/relevant qualification.
  • Previous experience in mental health or psychosocial disability support.
  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Check.
  • Current National Police Check.
  • Current First Aid Certificate.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation Module – Quality, Safety and You.
  • Australian working rights.
  • Australian Business Number (ABN) or willingness to obtain one.
  • Current driver's licence and reliable transport where required.
  • A professional, reliable and participant-focused approach.
