Job Summary: The Sales Manager, Private Events is responsible for generating and managing private event sales for T-Mobile Center. This role focuses on prospecting new business, maintaining client relationships, and achieving established revenue goals.
The Sales Manager will execute sales strategies, manage assigned accounts, and support the overall private events sales plan under the direction of senior leadership. The ideal candidate is a motivated sales professional with strong closing skills, excellent communication abilities, and experience in event sales or hospitality. Cold calling, in-person prospecting, and active pipeline management are expected components of this role.
Essential Duties:
- Prospect, develop, and close private event sales through relationship-building, needs analysis, proposal development, negotiation, and follow-up.
- Maintain and grow assigned accounts while actively identifying new business opportunities.
- Meet regularly with local companies, agencies, and event planners to drive bookings.
- Manage pipeline activity (inquiries, prospects, tentative, definite) using the designated CRM platform.
- Prepare weekly sales reports and assist in revenue forecasting.
- Support development and execution of the annual sales plan.
- Collaborate with the venue management, marketing, and operations teams to ensure seamless event execution and client satisfaction.
- Conduct market research to identify trends and new revenue opportunities.
- Maintain strong relationships with local hotels, Convention & Visitor Bureaus, chambers, and community partners.
- Ensure high levels of guest satisfaction through responsive communication and attention to detail.
- Represent the venue at industry networking events and trade shows as assigned.
Required Qualifications (Job Knowledge, Skills, and Education):
- A minimum education level of: Bachelor of Arts/Sciences Degree (4-year) in a related field
- 3-5 years of related work experience, 2-3 years of direct sales experience
- Experience in venue seat sales and/or sports/venue management.
- Established business contacts and experience in the Kansas City metro region preferred.
- Strong strategic and consultative selling skills.
- Demonstrated ability to close sales.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook – computer and basic accounting skills are required.
- Must be highly organized, resourceful, quick learner and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Exceptional guest and client service capabilities – previous sales management experience preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills; can effectively communicate and relate to all levels within and outside the organization; creates and builds positive and productive relationships.
- Must be extremely organized and detail-oriented.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and/or holidays.
