As a Broadcast Journalist at Global, you will:

 Key Responsibilities:

Reading news bulletins for Classic FM, the UK’s most popular classical music station.
Write clear, engaging and accurate scripts with the Classic FM audience in mind.
Work closely with the News Editor and wider newsroom to prioritise stories, respond quickly to developing events and ensure all output meets editorial, legal and compliance standards.
Share story ideas and updates with colleagues, contribute to forward planning and support news coverage across the news team when required.
As part of your duties you may also write and read news bulletins on other Global stations including LBC, Smooth Radio and Riviera Radio.
Contribute engaging, platform-native video journalism for the LBC News YouTube and TikTok channels, embracing Global’s video-first approach to reach audiences wherever they consume news.

What You’ll Love About This Role:

Think Big: Tell important stories that reach and connect with the Classic FM audience and audiences across Global’s brands.

Own It: Take responsibility for understanding what’s of interest to the Classic FM audience. Use content gathered by our reporting teams across the country and key guests on our platforms to craft news bulletins that inform our audiences with an engaging delivery.

Keep it Simple: Turn complex information into clear, relevant journalism our audiences can understand.

Better Together: Work with experienced journalists in the London newsroom and across the UK, Classic FM presenters and production colleagues.

What Success Looks Like

In your first few months, you’ll have:

Built a strong understanding of Global’s news brands, the Classic FM audience and editorial processes.
Developed productive relationships with newsroom colleagues in London and across the UK, Classic FM presenters, producers and the wider Classic FM team.
Produced accurate, well-written news content to deadline with the Classic FM audience in mind.
Demonstrated sound editorial judgement and confidence when handling breaking news.
Contributed ideas to the LBC News YouTube and TikTok channels and supported the team’s daily news coverage.
