Position Purpose:
The Regional Associate Relations Manager is responsible for promoting fair and consistent employment practices and ensuring a positive associate relations environment to enhance overall performance for the Canadian Division. The Regional Associate Relations Manager will build an effective action plan for all locations based on Voice of the Associate feedback and other company driven initiatives. The Regional Associate Relations Manager reports to the Director, Associate Relations and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
Responsibilities:
- Provide advice, coaching and policy interpretation to HR Partners and leaders on a broad range of employment matters including attendance management, accommodation, performance management, disability management and return-to-work programs.
- Develop and execute regional Associate Relations strategies by identifying trends, risks and opportunities through analysis of investigations, associate feedback, labour relations activity and workforce data.
- Manage complex and escalated associate relations matters, including social media concerns, AwareLine complaints, letters to SSC, legal claims and other high-risk issues, while promoting open-door practices across the division.
- Analyze regional and location-specific data, including Voice of the Associate results and Associate First Assessments, to develop and implement action plans that improve the associate experience and mitigate risk.
- Monitor labour relations activity within the region and partner with the SSC Associate Relations team to address emerging issues and organizational risks.
- Prepare executive-level insights, reports and recommendations that translate associate relations trends and workforce data into proactive business actions.
- Play a key role in organizational change initiatives, supporting leaders through workforce and structural changes.
- Lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of Associate Relations programs, tools, resources and processes to drive consistency, accountability and reporting effectiveness.
- Deliver training and guidance to leaders on legal compliance, associate relations, labour relations, legislative changes and company policies.
- Partner with leaders on performance management, associate development and succession planning, ensuring development plans are established and followed.
- Work closely with business leaders and associates to support business initiatives and related human resources activities.
Experience / Knowledge Required:
- University degree in Business, Human Resources or a related field.
- Minimum 8-12 years of progressive Human Resources experience, including significant experience in Associate Relations and at least 5 years in a generalist HR role.
- CHRL designation is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of employment legislation, labour relations, workplace investigations, accommodation and disability management practices.
- Solid understanding of store operations and HR policies and procedures.
- Excellent verbal, written, facilitation and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, conflict resolution and problem-solving capabilities.
- Proven ability to influence and build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Highly organized, results-oriented and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Moderate travel required.
- Bilingual English and French language skills are an asset.
