Description
- Maintaining customer accounts.
- Verifying and posting payments received and changes to customer accounts for Public Utilities.
- Creating work orders for meter installation and changes.
- Entering and verifying meter readings.
- Addressing customer questions concerning meter readings and billing.
- Reviewing problem accounts and making adjustments as needed for verified leaks, new services, transfer of services, as well as various charges for services rendered by the maintenance department
- Performing enhanced reports and processing monthly and final billings.
- Processing refunds as needed.
- Answering telephones and handling routine requests for information, as well as providing details concerning meter readings and billing
The Billing Technician must exercise independent judgment and initiative in completing assignments, and must also exercise tact and courtesy in frequent contact with utility customers and the general public. Location & Work Schedule
Brunswick County Utility Billing is located at 3769 Old Ocean Highway, Bolivia, NC 28422. The office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30am - 5:00pm. Associate’s degree in accounting, business management, or related field AND one (1) to two (2) years of experience in customer service and billing; OR any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Physical Requirements
Must be physically able to operate a variety of automated office machines including computers, calculators, copiers, facsimile machines, etc. Must be able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for periods of time.
