Job Objective:

Performs electrocardiography studies on all patient populations served. Maintains communication between physicians, nursing and other departments as part of the health care delivery team.

Job Description:

Education: Required: EKG Class Preferred: Graduate of an approved Cardiovascular or Medical Assistant program Licensure/Certification: Required: American Heart Association BLS Experience: Required: One (1) year of EKG experience

Reports To: Manager or Director Supervises: N/A Ages of Patients: Neonate/ Infant, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, Geriatric Blood Borne Pathogens: Minimal/ No Potential

Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:

Ability to perform all duties with the MUSE system, Ability to perform holter scanning on all recordings including pacers, Ability to perform stress testing procedures, Ability to produce artifact-free electrocardiography studies, Ability to “stand-by” in cardiac arrests (codes) or cardioversion, Knowledge of Cardiology modalities in the clinical setting

Essential Responsibilities

1. Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations. 2. Obtains artifact-free electrocardiography. 3. Performs adequate holter monitors. 4. Performs EKGs in codes or cardioversion. 5. Performs holter scanning on all recordings including pacer. 6. Downloads EKG’s into the MUSE system and prepares the EKG’s for the physicians. 7. Performs stress testing procedures. 8. Prepares the patient’s room and equipment for the electrocardiography. 9. Prepares the patient according to the test being performed and confirm the status of skin allergies with patients. 10. Documents and process procedures on a daily basis in the database. 11. Processes billing charges or credits on a daily basis. 12. Performs photocopying, filing, charting of reports in patients’ medical record as needed. 13. Completes the care and operation of EKG equipment according to technical specifications and application of equipment. 14. Maintains clean, well-stocked equipment with supplies and “in good working order” after each shift. 15. Reports any unsafe or mal-functioning equipment to Bio-med and takes the necessary step in processing reported equipment. 16. Provides teaching and educational material related to electrocardiography to patients and significant others, while also offering timely feedback to the team regarding performance. 17. Assists leader with allocating resources according to priorities and ensuring appropriate staffing levels. 18. Performs other duties as assigned.
