Purpose
Development, optimization and execution of Brazil's crude evacuation strategy and marine logistics portfolio, ensuring safe, reliable and value-maximizing operations. The role integrates operational, commercial, regulatory and stakeholder requirements across crude export and domestic trading activities, balancing competing priorities to maximize fleet utilization, preserve commercial flexibility and mitigate business risks. The position serves as a key interface between Trading, Commercial Upstream, Freight Operations, Maritime, Business Development and external stakeholders, supporting both day-to-day execution and long-term logistics strategy.
Accountability
- Deliver safe, compliant and reliable crude evacuation from Shell-operated and third-party FPSOs in Brazil.
- Optimize DPST/CTV deployment and vessel utilization while balancing operational constraints, regulatory requirements and commercial objectives.
- Protect and create value through effective management of the offtake program, vessel allocation, lifting strategy and logistics execution.
- Ensure risks impacting crude evacuation are proactively identified, evaluated and mitigated.
- Maintain alignment across Trading, Upstream, Freight and Operations regarding lifting priorities, vessel allocation and execution plans.
- Provide strategic recommendations regarding fleet utilization, fleet sizing, future deployment opportunities and logistics optimization initiatives.
- Lead continuous improvement and digitalization initiatives within DPST and STB Operations.
Key Responsibilities
Crude Offtake Planning & Optimization
- Maximize utilization of DPSTs and CTV while maintaining operational flexibility and business resilience.
- Plan and optimize deployment of DPSTs and CTV across Shell Equity and third-party FPSOs.
- Coordinate crude offtake programs with Commercial Upstream and Trading stakeholders.
- Ensure the crude offtake program and vessel allocation plans remain current and aligned across all stakeholders.
- Run optimization models to determine the most economic and operationally effective routes to market, including STS strategies and export routing alternatives.
- Evaluate vessel requirements and recommend spot chartering opportunities when required.
- Assess opportunities to increase value through co-loading, swaps, vessel sharing arrangements and third-party business opportunities.
Fleet Strategy & Commercial Value Creation
- Support development of short, medium and long-term DPST fleet strategies.
- Conduct fleet evaluation studies to support fleet sizing and future deployment decisions.
- Collaborate with Trading and Upstream to assess opportunities for transporting third-party production.
- Collaborate with Freight Operations on out-chartering opportunities and fleet optimization strategies.
- Develop and maintain KPIs supporting value generation, cost reduction and operational performance.
- Represent Brazil DP Operations in Commercial Value Add and Best Practice forums.
Risk Management & Operational Readiness
- Integrate operational vessel requirements into the crude evacuation program, ensuring timely planning of SIRE, DP Trials, RN06 deadlines, etc.
- Assess operational, commercial and regulatory risks impacting crude evacuation and implement mitigation plans.
- Monitor weather and operational conditions affecting offshore and STS operations.
- Ensure contingency plans are maintained for vessel outages, delays and export disruptions.
- Ensure all financial instruments required for cargo movement are in place.
Regulatory Compliance & HSSE
- Ensure compliance with all applicable HSSE requirements and Shell maritime standards.
- Maintain understanding of Brazilian regulatory requirements impacting DPST operations and crude exports.
- Support compliance with cabotage, RN06, EBN, Petrobras and other maritime regulatory requirements.
- Ensure casualty management procedures are understood and followed.
Stakeholder Management & Leadership
- Build and maintain strong partnerships across Trading, Commercial Upstream, Freight Operations, Maritime, Business Development and external stakeholders.
- Facilitate alignment between diverse stakeholders with differing commercial and operational objectives.
- Influence decision making through data-driven analysis and effective communication.
- Coach and support development of DP Operations personnel.
Digitalization & Continuous Improvement
- Lead and sponsor digitalization initiatives within DP Operations.
- Drive process simplification, automation and data quality improvements.
- Support implementation of new systems, analytics tools and optimization capabilities.
- Lead fuel-efficiency initiatives focused on operational performance, emissions reduction and cost management.
- Ensure operational data is accurately maintained in GMAS, RADAR, CLIC, DEX and other relevant systems.
Dimensions:
- Responsible for crude evacuation planning across more than 20 FPSOs in Brazil.
- Direct operational oversight of 6-9 DPSTs, 1 CTV and spot conventional tankers.
- Significant direct impact on export reliability, logistics costs and commercial value generation.
- Supports value creation for LATAM Trading and Freight Trading desks.
- Requires management of multiple stakeholders across Trading, Upstream, Freight, Operations and external partners.
- Irregular and out-of-hours support may be required during critical operational events
What We Need From You
Experience & Skills
- Bachelor's degree is require.
- 5+ years of relevant experience with Planning, Logistics and/or correlate areas.
- Portuguese speaker and advanced English
- Seeking a professional with strong commercial acumen and strategic thinking, capable of optimizing value across complex logistics and supply chain operations. The successful candidate will demonstrate sound decision-making under uncertainty, effective stakeholder engagement, strong risk management capabilities, and a proven ability to solve complex business challenges through collaboration and systems thinking.
- Relevant experience includes Trading & Supply Logistics, Crude Oil Offtake Planning, Marine and DPST Operations, Upstream Operations, Supply Chain Optimization, and Brazilian maritime regulatory frameworks. Exposure to digital transformation and continuous improvement initiatives will be a key differentiator.
