Objectives
To ensure the smooth running of the sample preparation department and to oversee the sampling staff and operational requirements. Responsible for the supervision of all sampling related practices, tasks, methodologies, administration, quality control and HSE of the site.
Qualifications
Essential

Skills, Competencies and Experience
Minimum 2 years’ experience in a sampling environment or similar position.
- Ability to anticipate needs and must be responsive to enquiries.
- Ability to investigate, resolve and respond to queries.
- Ability to multitask and meet challenging deadlines.
- Able to communicate at all levels within the organisation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English is a mandatory requirement.
- Interact and communicate in a respectful manner taking into consideration the diverse cultures.
- Maintain confidentiality and integrity.
- Must be computer literate.
- Organised and flexible.
- Sound knowledge of sampling and preparation techniques.
Position Duties
Assist in maintaining employee training records up to date.
- Ensure compliance with QC standards that have been implemented when sampling.
- Ensure all documentation related to maintenance, calibration and training are up to date.
- Ensure approved SOP’s are used to provide continuous quality service to clients.
- Supervise all sampling related practices, tasks and methodologies.
- Ensuring accurate and timely sample preparation to achieve turn-around times (TAT) daily.
- Assist in method development and implementing new procedures.
- Carry out any other task as instructed by the Site Manager.
- Carry out calibration / verification checks on apparatus as required.
- Deal with disciplinary issues.
- Ensure all required sampling preparation reports are completed daily and up to date.
- Ensure that all documentation related to maintenance, calibration and training are up to date and available.
- Ensure that all orders for the necessary supplies are ordered timeously.
- Ensure that root-cause investigations are properly conducted for corrective actions and solutions are effective.
- House-keeping and proper handling of samples and related consumables and equipment.
- Knowledgeable in sampling operations and assist with queries and troubleshooting.
- Monitor and review sample prep QC results daily and make necessary adjustments to equipment settings or institute other appropriate corrective and preventative measures.
- Organize and coordinate shifts.
- Responsible for organising sample storage and sample retention.
- Responsible for sample logging.
- Train and supervision of all employees.
- Travel to other sites if required.
- Any other duties/tasks as assigned by the Site Manager.

Quality Assurance

- Prepare, conduct, and ensure compliance with internal as well as external audits.
- Ensure that the quality of analytical data produced meets the ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 17025:2017 standard and are maintained at a level that meets or exceeds company and market acceptable standards.
Authorities
Review and authorise the routine records of sample preparation.
- Review and authorise the sample preparation paperwork before submitting for reporting.
- Review Calibration Certificates of equipment, received from the outside calibration laboratory.
- Review records of employees’ competence, skills, etc.
- Stop an activity, if any non–conformity found related to testing, accommodation and / or environment.
- Take corrective actions identified based on analysis, related to the complaint or results of testing.
