Join Humana as a Technology Intern for Summer 2027 and play an integral role in driving innovation and digital transformation within a Fortune 50 healthcare company.Our 12-week internship program offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience across a wide spectrum of technological domains, contributing to projects that directly impact the health and well-being of millions. As a Tech Intern, you will collaborate with experienced technologists on initiatives that may include project management, agile development, software and cloud engineering, data science and analytics, user experience (UI/UX), machine learning, and cybersecurity. You will have the opportunity to leverage cutting-edge tools and methodologies to solve real-world challenges, build new skills, and make a meaningful impact in healthcare technology while launching your career at Humana.
The internship program is hosted in-person at Humana’s Headquarters in Louisville, KY, providing a rich experience of our corporate culture and direct mentorship from industry leaders.

Required Qualifications:
Must be available to work full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, on-site for the full 12-week internship program from May 24, 2027, through August 13, 2027, in Louisville, KY.
Must not require sponsorship to work in the United States now or in the future.
Must be a current full-time undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Data Analytics, Cybersecurity, or a related quantitative discipline.
Must have an expected graduation date between December 2027 - Summer 2028.
Must successfully complete CodeVue technical assessment requirements, which will evaluate programming fundamentals, problem-solving, and role-relevant technical skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with technical tools, frameworks, and methodologies, including but not limited to C++, Java, HTML, SQL, C#, Python, Agile, project management, Scrum, data science, Power BI, Salesforce, JavaScript, CSS, cloud technologies, web/mobile development, API development, and AI applications.
Demonstrates strong academic performance, with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5.
Completion of introductory to intermediate technical coursework, such as CS 101, MIS, Foundations of Computer Science, Fundamentals of Computer Science, introductory programming courses, Data Structures, Algorithms, or Machine Learning.
Active involvement in on-campus and/or community activities.
Interest in working in the healthcare industry.
Possesses strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
Demonstrates intellectual curiosity, adaptability, and flexibility through previous jobs, internships, academic work, and/or projects.
Internship Program Overview:
During Humana’s 12-week internship program, interns can expect a structured and engaging experience designed to support both professional growth and meaningful project contributions. The program includes:
A comprehensive onboarding and orientation experience to help interns learn about Humana, the internship program, and their assigned team.
Placement on a technical team where interns can work closely with experienced leaders and team members, apply their skills, gain hands-on experience, and contribute to meaningful projects aligned to Humana’s mission, business priorities, and technology objectives.
Exposure to executive-level presentations, professional development sessions, and workshops designed to strengthen technical and career skills.
A strong support network that may include direct leaders, program managers, mentors, and peers throughout the internship experience.
Access to learning, training, and development opportunities that support both technical growth and professional development.
Opportunities to participate in intern-led committees and events, which may include initiatives such as Social Events, Yearbook, Volunteering, and other engagement activities.
Access to Humana’s Network Resource Groups (NRGs), which help foster connection, community, and inclusion across the organization.
Potential Team Placements:
Interns may be placed on one of several technical teams across the organization, depending on business need, skill set, and area of interest. Potential team placements may include:
CenterWell and Humana Military: The CenterWell and Humana Military IT organization provides technology to support Humana’s commitment of helping the millions of people we serve achieve their best health. The CenterWell area supports senior-focused primary care, home health, and pharmacy segments, while the Humana Military area supports military communities. Intern projects may include health system integrations, clinical support platforms, data interoperability, and digital tools that improve patient and provider experiences.
Data and Analytics: Delivers enterprise data, reporting, and analytics capabilities that help inform business and clinical decisions. Work may include data engineering, dashboard development, data quality improvement, and insights generation to support operational and strategic priorities.
Enterprise Growth and Digital: Develops digital tools, mobile applications, and self-service experiences that enhance member engagement, support business growth, and improve operational efficiency. Projects may include building new digital experiences, implementing marketing automation, and using analytics to inform business strategy.
Enterprise AI: Builds reusable, human-centered AI capabilities, tools, and services that support enterprise data science and high-priority business use cases. Work may include advancing AI solutions such as Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Conversational AI, model development, data pipeline optimization, and AI-driven insights for clinical and business challenges.
Enterprise Information Protection (EIP): Maintains the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of Humana’s business, technical, and customer information for associates and members by complying with industry standards and prioritizing threat management. Projects may include cybersecurity, threat detection, vulnerability management, identity security, AI security, product security, data protection, risk and compliance, and secure cloud architecture.
Insurance Technology: Builds and supports the technology systems that enable Humana’s insurance operations and healthcare services. Projects may involve software development, cloud technologies, AI, automation, data engineering, and digital platforms that help deliver seamless member and provider experiences while advancing innovation and operational excellence.
CTO: Shapes the vision and roadmap for Humana’s technology landscape by aligning enterprise architecture, technology planning, and emerging technologies with business priorities. Interns may support technical research, AI enablement, enterprise architecture activities, IT framework development, and enterprise-wide technology transformation projects.
