Description

Job Description:

The Office of Counseling & Advocacy Services is seeking a creative, culturally responsive Expressive Arts Therapist and Licensed Clinician for a full-time, 1-year position with full benefits and strong potential for permanent conversion. Reporting to the Director, this role integrates expressive arts modalities with short-term mental health counseling to support our vibrant student population of musicians, actors, and dancers. At Berklee, your work directly supports the next generation of creative leaders.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Services & Expressive Modalities:

  • Caseload & Assessment: Maintain an active clinical caseload using a short-term model, capped at 65% direct clinical time per AUCCCD standards. Conduct psychological assessments and provide individual/group therapy.
  • Expressive Arts Integration: Adapt artistic styles and therapeutic creative activities tailored to the unique developmental and creative needs of performing arts students.
  • Crisis Intervention & Post-Discharge: Deliver immediate crisis support during daytime on-call rotations. Consult with the AVP of Student Support Services on post-hospitalization discharge plans.
  • Documentation: Maintain precise, confidential clinical records within the electronic medical records system in compliance with professional and ethical standards.

Outreach & Consultation:

  • Community Initiatives: Develop and facilitate psycho-educational workshops and community-based mental health programming.
  • Campus Consultation: Provide expert consultation to faculty, staff, and student leaders to foster a supportive, trauma-informed campus ecosystem.

What You'll Bring

  • Education & Licensure: Master’s degree and current Massachusetts clinical licensure (LCSW/LICSW, LMFT, LMHC, or Licensed Clinical Psychologist).
  • Certification: Expressive Arts Therapy certification from an accredited program is required.
  • Clinical Experience: Minimum of 1 year post-licensure counseling experience. Background in college mental health, crisis intervention, and treatment for substance use or eating disorders is preferred.
  • Artistic Domain Focus: Experience working with performing artists (musicians, dancers, actors) and a demonstrated ability to engage with culturally diverse student populations.

Schedule & Hybrid Work Environment

  • Hybrid Schedule: Flexes with the academic calendar—typically 1 remote day per week when classes are in session and 2 remote days per week during breaks/summer, with in-person expectations at semester starts.
  • Availability: Requires daytime on-call duties and occasional evening or weekend support for marquee events (e.g., Orientation, Family Weekend) or emergency outreach.

Why Choose Berklee?

  • Creative Synergy: Blend expressive arts therapy directly into an environment designed for world-class performing artists.
  • Cultural Access: Enjoy nightly, unrivaled access to campus music, theater, and dance performances across our venues.
  • Full Benefits Package: Includes top-tier health and dental coverage, 403(b) retirement matching, generous PTO, and a paid winter break during this 1-year position with potential for permanent conversion.

Hiring Range: $45.00 to $50.00 per hour; salary dependent on experience and education.
