Company Overview

Carbery Group is dedicated to enriching lives. How do we do this? Owned by the farmers of West Cork, we are a global business with deep local roots. Our mission is to deliver lasting value to our farmer shareholders while making positive impact on our customers, employees, suppliers, partners, and the communities we serve. We are committed to doing this by creating healthier, tastier, and more sustainable food and ingredient solutions.

With customers in over 50 countries, we pride ourselves on our commitment to innovation, our open mindset and ability to be a good partner. We prioritise our customers' needs, while also valuing our planet and fostering a thriving, people-first environment.

Your Role in Carbery's Success

This is a key role supporting the Group CIO in governing the ambitious digital transformation programme. This role will sit at the centre of the Digital & IT function. It will act as the operational and governance backbone of the Digital organisation - holding the digital leadership team to account for their portfolio commitments, coordinating the departmental budgeting process, and providing independent risk oversight across the transformation programme.

This is a highly visible role with direct exposure to the Group Leadership Team, suited to an individual with a strong consulting or programme governance background who is looking to move into an operating environment with real commercial accountability.

How You Will Contribute

  • Maintain and drive accountability into the digital leadership and workstream owners to account for delivery against portfolio commitments — scope, timeline, budget and benefits for our ambitious digital transformation program.
  • Own and coordinate the digital budgeting process end-to-end: annual planning, in-year forecasting, variance analysis, and business case quality control ahead of investment approval.
  • Own the digital portfolio risk register, driving proactive identification, escalation and mitigation of delivery, vendor and dependency risks across the transformation programme.
  • Design and run the programme governance cadence through the project owners — steering committee agendas, pre-reads, minutes and action tracking — ensuring decisions are made and followed through.
  • Maintain a single, trusted source of truth for portfolio status (RAG, spend, benefits realisation) to support reporting.
  • Track benefits realisation against our ambitious EBITDA target, working with Finance to validate that committed savings are actually landing.
  • Draft and refine executive-ready narrative and materials — GLT updates, Board papers and strategic decks — acting as a thinking partner to the CIO on framing and positioning.
  • Support organisational design and workforce planning decisions within the digital function, including new role definition and resourcing business cases.
  • Support horizon-scanning activity for the function, including evaluation of emerging technology and tooling relevant to the digital roadmap.
  • Act as a trusted proxy for the CIO in selected stakeholder forums.
  • Own the digital function's budgeting cycle, working closely with Finance to ensure forecasts are accurate, timely and defensible.
  • Provide independent challenge on business cases and spend requests, ensuring value for money and adherence to Group governance standards.
  • Track actual spend against budget across the portfolio and escalate material variances in a timely manner to the CIO while holding the budget owner accountable.
