The Materials Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating production planning, materials planning, purchasing execution, capacity planning, inventory control, and supply-risk management activities to support customer demand and manufacturing operations.
The position ensures that production schedules, material availability, supplier deliveries, inventory levels, and manufacturing capacity are effectively aligned. The Materials Supervisor works closely with suppliers and internal functions, including Production, Procurement, Sourcing, Engineering, Quality, Customer Service, Sales, Finance, Warehouse, Logistics, and other manufacturing sites.
The position supports the Supply Chain Manager in managing daily operations, resolving critical supply and production issues, executing improvement projects, coordinating cross-functional or cross-site activities, and following up important business events to achieve customer delivery, inventory, cost, and operational performance objectives.
Responsibilities
- Maintain stable production through effective production, materials, and capacity planning.
- Identify shortages and supplier-capacity risks before they affect customer delivery.
- Balance material availability with inventory and working-capital objectives.
- Provide accurate and timely information for management decisions.
- Drive cross-functional actions to closure with clear ownership and deadlines.
- Develop a capable, responsive, and accountable materials-planning team.
- Improve planning discipline, system usage, data accuracy, and operational processes.
- Support business growth, customer delivery, project execution, and supply-chain continuity.
Education and Experience Requirements
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or a related field.
- Relevant experience(5-8years) in materials planning, production planning, purchasing, supply-chain operations, or manufacturing.
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience coordinating suppliers and cross-functional internal teams.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze operational data and manage multiple priorities.
- Professional working proficiency in both Chinese and English for local and cross-site communication.
Preferred Requirements
- Previous experience supervising or leading planners, buyers, or materials personnel.
- Experience in a multinational manufacturing organization.
- Experience with QAD or a comparable ERP system.
- Experience in supply-risk mitigation, project management, new-product introduction, or product-transfer projects.
- Familiarity with S&OP, demand planning, inventory optimization, Lean manufacturing, and continuous-improvement methods.
- APICS CPIM, CSCP, PMP, Lean Six Sigma, or an equivalent professional qualification.
