Description
In this position...
As a member of the Engine Controls software team, you will collaborate across departments—including calibration, systems engineering, and vehicle integration—to develop robust, production-ready solutions for current and next-generation boosted engine programs.
What you'll do...
- Design and implement embedded engine controls and diagnostic monitors within the powertrain control module software
- Capture and maintain requirements for vehicle control features, document changes using Ford’s model-based design process and tools, and create and execute validation plans using simulation, hardware-in-the-loop, and in-vehicle resources
- Manage configuration and complexity for a wide range of vehicle programs and powerpacks, and maintain high levels of compatibility and commonality with Gas, Diesel, HEV, and BEV powerpack configurations
- Develop and validate control algorithms using C-code to meet functional, emissions, performance, and functional safety requirements (ISO 26262)
- Apply powertrain control system software validation test methods—including unit testing (Unity/Ceedling), SIL, MIL, and HIL—to ensure system functionality and robustness
- Troubleshoot vehicle and powertrain fuel-path functional and diagnostic issues; determine and validate corrective actions through data analysis, vehicle testing, and simulation
- Maintain software description documentation, calibration guides, release notes, and requirements traceability for fuel-path software components
You’ll have…
- B.S. degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, aerospace engineering, or related field; or foreign equivalency degree, or a combination of equivalent experience and education
- 3 years of experience with each of the following skills is required:
- 3 years of experience with design powertrain control algorithms and associated software functions.
- 3 years of experience with programming embedded automotive controls in the C language.
- 3 years of experience with testing and debugging of automotive embedded controls.
- 3 years of experience with C software development in automotive powertrain systems.
- 3 years of experience with software version control, ClearCase and GitHub.
- 3 years of experience with Matlab Simulink Software Development and Simulation.
Even better, you may have…
- M.S. degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering, or related field
- Experience with fuel injection, 3-way catalyst, gas particulate filters, and exhaust sensor controls and diagnostic monitors
- Familiarity with OBD-II diagnostic monitoring for fuel system
- Awareness of ISO 26262 Part 6, MISRA-C coding standards
- Experience with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
