Description
Corewell Health East is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible cardiologist with expertise and a strong clinical interest in cardiovascular critical care to join the Heart and Vascular Service Line at Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital in Royal Oak. This is an outstanding opportunity to join a nationally recognized cardiovascular program with a longstanding commitment to excellence in patient care, education, research and innovation.
The successful candidate will play an important role in the care of medically complex and critically ill cardiovascular patients while maintaining a complementary practice within their area of cardiology expertise.
Candidates from a range of cardiology backgrounds are encouraged to apply, including noninvasive cardiology, interventional cardiology, advanced heart failure, or another cardiology subspecialty. Formal advanced training in critical care cardiology is welcomed but is not required for candidates with substantial relevant training, experience, and demonstrated competency in cardiovascular critical care.
Position Highlights
Full-time cardiology position based primarily at the Royal Oak campus, with a significant emphasis on cardiovascular critical care
Management of critically ill patients with complex cardiovascular diseases, including acute coronary syndromes, cardiogenic shock, acute heart failure, significant arrhythmias, hemodynamic instability, and multisystem illness
Approximately 50% clinical effort devoted to cardiovascular critical care and other inpatient responsibilities, with the remaining clinical effort tailored to the candidate’s cardiology subspecialty and programmatic needs
Opportunity to maintain an outpatient or procedural practice consistent with the candidate’s training and expertise
Close collaboration with interventional cardiology, advanced heart failure, electrophysiology, cardiovascular surgery, critical care medicine, advanced practice providers, nursing, pharmacy, and other multidisciplinary teams
Participation in the continued development of cardiovascular critical-care pathways, protocols, quality initiatives, and educational programs
State-of-the-art facilities and access to advanced cardiovascular imaging, hemodynamic support, and other cutting-edge technologies
Teaching opportunities involving cardiovascular fellows, residents, medical students, and multidisciplinary clinical teams
Faculty appointment at Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine commensurate with academic experience
Opportunities for clinical research, quality improvement, education, and program development

Qualifications
Required
MD or DO degree
Board certified or board eligible in cardiovascular disease
Eligibility for an unrestricted Michigan medical license
Eligibility for an unrestricted DEA registration
Commitment to multidisciplinary, team-based care
Demonstrated experience, training, or competency in managing critically ill cardiovascular patients
Strong communication, teaching, and clinical leadership skills
Preferred
Advanced fellowship training in critical care cardiology, critical care medicine, or another relevant area
Alternatively, substantial clinical experience caring for high-acuity cardiovascular patients in a CCU, CICU, CVICU, or comparable setting
Training or experience in noninvasive cardiology, interventional cardiology, advanced heart failure, or another complementary cardiology subspecialty
Experience in cardiovascular education, quality improvement, clinical research, or program development
