Purpose of Position
The Lead Youth Volleyball Instructor is responsible for planning and leading participants in the development of the basic skills and fundamentals of the sport offered by the Parks, Recreation, & Forestry Department. They are paid $15 per hour depending on experience.
Position Accountability
General day-to-day supervision, administrative direction, and performance evaluation will be received from the Deputy Parks, Recreation, & Forestry Director.
Supervision Exercised
The Lead Youth Volleyball Instructor supervises Youth Volleyball Instructors and runs the Youth Volleyball Program in coordination with the Deputy Parks, Recreation, & Forestry Director.
Term of Employment
This position is a seasonal position. Practices/Skills and Drills will be held on Wednesday nights October through March and games are held on Sundays January through March.The following duties are normal for the position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive; other duties may be required and assigned.
- The lead instructor will arrive fifteen (15) minutes before the scheduled game/practice time.
- Responsible for promoting a fun atmosphere while keeping play safe and engaging.
- Keep the emphasis on skill building, fun, fitness, and sportsmanship.
- Plan & Instruct practices and oversee games.
- Volleyball playing background with experience in youth leadership.
- Ability to carry out assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
- Understand and communicate the fundamentals and rules of volleyball.
- Ability to stand and run for periods of time.
- Ability to move to effectively provide instruction to the participants and the other instructors.
