SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for performing a variety of technical and professional job responsibilities related to the management of food safety and quality expectations at Tyson Foods’ suppliers & contract manufacturers.  Specific responsibilities include ability to lead and develop a strong team dedicated to assessing partner suitability and compliance to Tyson requirements.  Developing expectations for our external partners to drive consistent conformance to specifications, regulatory requirements and food safety guidelines. Analyzing and resolving food safety and/or quality issues, product disposition decisions, innovation and project support. This position serves as a food safety and quality resource for the Contract Manufacturing & Procurement teams and is critical in delivering Supply Chain flexibility while appropriately managing business risk. The position requires a strong working knowledge of diverse plant processes and associated risks. The person must have the ability to collaborate with multiple other departments such as R&D and the Business Unit representatives, while driving activities centered around overall improvements in plant performance. This position will report directly to the Senior Director of FSQA – External Manufacturing.

 

This position will serve as a leader and mentor for their direct reports. The position will also partner with Tyson Business Partners such as R&D, IPL, Sales, and the BU to support business growth as necessary.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience: 8-10 plus years’ experience; significant experience in food safety quality assurance and regulatory compliance; management experience in the manufacture of high-risk foods and their processes preferred.

Computer Skills: Proficient in the following Microsoft products: Excel, Word and PowerPoint; knowledge of various Tyson business software programs.

Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills required in addition to strong presentation skills. Position will be responsible for effective communication for both internal and external partners at a variety of levels.

Special Skills: Must have good critical thinking and problem-solving skills.  Must be an independent worker capable of consistent engagement geared towards driving results. Must be a strong leader capable of developing team members for continued growth.

Travel: As required.
