Overview
This high-visibility position, reporting into the North American Head of Digital Commerce, will serve as the technical lead for a small Shopify development team focused exclusively on the US + Canada Sodastream storefronts. The role will independently execute complex development tasks while providing day-to-day guidance and code oversight to two Shopify Developers -- Translating business requests from sales, marketing, and site merchandising into well-scoped technical solutions, balancing local market needs against the global development team's shared standards and larger buildouts. This position will be the primary point of escalation for storefront technical issues and the bridge between local and global development efforts.
Responsibilities
- Leads architecture and implementation of custom Shopify theme features, including complex Liquid templates, JavaScript-driven UI components, and third-party integrations.
- Provides day-to-day technical guidance, code reviews, and mentorship to two Shopify Developers.
- Partners with marketing, sales, and site merchandising stakeholders to scope, prioritize, and deliver front-end and back-end storefront changes for US + CA.
- Coordinates with the global e-commerce development team to align on shared theme standards, consume global buildouts, and adapt them for the regional market.
- Owns the local development workflow: branching strategy, deployment process, testing standards, and documentation practices.
- Leads technical scoping and estimation for new feature requests, identifying risks and dependencies early.
- Designs and implements integrations with Shopify apps, the Storefront API, and Admin API to support marketing and merchandising capabilities.
- Troubleshoots and resolves advanced storefront issues, including performance bottlenecks, rendering bugs, and data/integration failures.
- Evaluates and recommends tools, apps, and approaches to improve development efficiency and storefront capability.
- Ensures code quality, accessibility, and cross-device/cross-browser consistency across all US + CA storefront changes.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working directly in Shopify environments
- Experience managing a team, with both direct and indirect reports
- Cross-functional collaboration (especially with Global teams)
- Technical experience required:
- Shopify liquid, Theme Architecture
- JavaScript, HTML / CSS / Tailwind or similar
- Shopify APIs (Storefront, Admin, AJAX cart)
- Metafields, Metaobjects, Custom Data
- Git / Version Control + Branching workflows
- Third-Party app integration and evaluation
- Prior experience with CPG companies preferred
Compensation and Benefits:
- The expected starting compensation range for this position is 278,800 PLN annually (gross).
