Description
At Alaska Village Electric Cooperative (AVEC), we power communities across some of the most remote parts of Alaska. AVEC is a unique electric generation and distribution cooperative serving 58 Alaskan communities. With 90 full time employees and 80 part-time employees, we operate and maintain 46 power plants, 32 wind turbines, and 500 miles of distribution lines to energize more than 11,400 meters.
AVEC is seeking a Work Order Specialist who is organized, detail-oriented, and ready to support the work that keeps power flowing to communities across Rural Alaska. This positions works closely with our Operations, Line, and Engineering teams to ensure work orders, service requests, equipment records, and field information are accurate, complete, and moving through the process.
The Work Order Specialist will be responsible for:
- Managing work orders from initiation through completion, ensuring information and documentation are accurate and complete.
- Maintaining work order logs, service requests, support orders, field notes, as-builts, and other operational records.
- Preparing and tracking work and maintenance packages for linemen and technicians.
- Monitoring construction work in progress and assisting with work order completion and closeout.
- Maintaining transformer, streetlight, pole, equipment, tool, and other operational inventories.
- Assisting members with service requests by gathering information, explaining requirements, and helping move requests through the process.
- Navigating work order and fixed asset systems and providing other administrative support to the department.
The ideal Work Order Specialist should have:
- A high school diploma or equivalent and at least five years of related experience, including two years of electrical utility experience.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Excellent organizational skills, communication, problem solving, and analytical skills.
- A service-oriented approach and the ability to work effectively with coworkers, members, and individuals from diverse backgrounds.
AVEC offers a comprehensive pay and benefit package for full-time employees. Depending on experience, beginning pay could be $57,228 annually. The benefit package includes Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short- and Long-Term Disability, and both 401K Plan with Employer Matching and Retirement Pension Plan. Paid leave (PTO) starting at 21 days per year along with 8 scheduled paid Holidays plus 2 Floating Holidays and 1 Birthday Holiday.
