Description

Work With The Best

We are building the premier outdoor living company in the country by creating a “family of family companies” across the nation. Now you can build your landscaping career with the best, working in one of our many company locations nationwide.  Learn from the top experts in the field and work on some of the country’s largest and most complex landscape projects.  Take advantage of opportunities to share and exchange best practices across our network.  The opportunities are endless.

Glengate is a leading landscape design and construction firm specializing in the creation of exceptional residential landscapes, gardens, pools, outdoor living environments, and architectural landscapes throughout the Northeast.

Our projects are highly detailed and require a close integration of landscape architecture, construction, engineering, horticulture, and craftsmanship. We are looking for an AutoCAD Technician to join our Studio and help transform design concepts into accurate, coordinated, and buildable construction documents.

The Opportunity

The AutoCAD Technician will work closely with our Designers, Project Managers, and Construction teams to produce high-quality technical drawings throughout the design and construction process.

The ideal candidate is highly proficient in AutoCAD, has strong attention to detail, understands construction documentation, and takes pride in producing drawings that are both visually clear and technically accurate.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys the technical side of landscape architecture and wants to work on sophisticated residential projects from initial design through construction.

Responsibilities

Produce and maintain detailed AutoCAD drawings for residential landscape projects.

Develop construction documentation including site plans, layout plans, grading and drainage plans, planting plans, lighting plans, demolition plans, and construction details.

Translate design concepts and hand sketches into accurate CAD drawings.

Prepare detailed plans for pools, spas, terraces, walls, outdoor kitchens, fireplaces, water features, planting areas, and other landscape elements.

Incorporate information from surveys, architectural plans, engineering drawings, and consultant documents.

Coordinate drawings across multiple disciplines and identify potential conflicts or inconsistencies.

Maintain drawing standards, layers, blocks, templates, dimensions, annotations, and file organization.

Assist Designers with revisions throughout the design process.

Prepare construction documents suitable for permitting, pricing, and field installation.

Make revisions based on team feedback.

Review drawings for accuracy and completeness before they are issued sending back to Designers for final approval.

Maintain organized project files and ensure current drawing sets are properly documented.

Qualifications

Required:

2+ years of professional AutoCAD experience.

Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and a demonstrated ability to produce detailed technical drawings.

Strong written and verbal communication skills and fluent in English.

Strong understanding of drafting standards, dimensions, scales, layers, and construction documentation.

Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

Ability to read and interpret architectural, landscape, survey, and engineering drawings.

Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Preferred:

Experience in producing landscape architecture, architecture, civil engineering, or construction documents.

Familiarity with grading and drainage plans.

Experience with pools, masonry, retaining walls, site structures, or outdoor living environments.

Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, Land F/X, or other design/drafting software.

What Makes You Successful at Glengate

We are looking for someone who:

Has exceptional attention to detail. Small drafting errors can have significant consequences in the field.

Thinks beyond the drawing. You understand that drawings need to communicate how something will actually be constructed.

Takes ownership. You don't simply draft what you're given—you ask questions and identify potential problems.

Works collaboratively. You are comfortable receiving direction, incorporating feedback, and coordinating with multiple members of a project team.

Is organized. You can manage revisions, multiple drawing sets, and competing deadlines without losing track of details.

Wants to learn. You are interested in expanding your understanding of landscape construction and the technical aspects of high-end residential projects.

Why Glengate

At Glengate, you will have the opportunity to work on some of the most sophisticated residential landscape projects in the region. Our projects are designed and constructed by an integrated team, giving you the opportunity to see your drawings move from the computer screen to the job site.

You will work alongside experienced Landscape Architects, Designers, Project Managers, and construction professionals and gain exposure to the entire process—from design development and documentation through permitting and construction.
